This may very well be a memory issue or a driver issue on the part of the 4870 in CrossFire but look in looking at some of the reviews 4870 CF isn't all that impressive in some newer games at higher settings:

Trying to make some sense of it all, the LegitReviews review my have had some old 4800 drivers or some other issue.
As I said, it may be a memory issue or driver issue, but even though 4870 CF is still a little cheaper than a GTX 280 I do wonder if the GTX 280 is going to have more legs in newer games.
I think this round may be just begining. That GTX 280 buyers remorse thread might quickly be a "anybody who bought a newly released card in June 2008 remorse" thread.
