E7200 2.53ghz Wolfdale @ Newegg

Ooooo nice find. I thought these werent due for a while yet? Hmm wasnt the price per thousand ot whatever 133? Looks like the gouging hasnt started just yet. If you want one Im thinking now is a good time.

Ive been looking to upgrade but this doesnt seem like it OCs much more than my current chip.

Heh. I just ordered one last night from Buy.com, using google checkout. Would have rather ordered one from the Egg.

Looks like these chips will be real winners for the price. I still prefer my E8400 ... they say extra cache is some good.

Let's see some tests :)

They are in stock at Ewiz as well but for 150 plus shipping. Pretty sure price gouging has began. You are right, they are suppose to be 133.

Anyways I read at LegitReview (i think) that they overclock up to 3.9. They weren't able to break 4Ghz stable, but they were pretty damn close

And I'll say again, look at the ridiculous amounts of voltage to get this chip to 3.8xx. The E8400 is still king for solid, cool 4Ghz performance. That's worth $40 easy.

1.48 voltage. don't know much about Intel. is that a lot? I thought that was pretty common for overclocking

Sick price.

Any overclocking advantages of using this over my E6750? They both have the same approximate clocks @ stock, and I know the Wolfie will be more power efficient and give off less heat..

That is okay for a 65nm Intel chip... but the 45nm chips use less power. This wouldn't be a safe voltage for a Wolfdale for long I would think.

Wow the price went down since my last post? (139+ship to 134+free)

In the near future, I'm looking to build a budget-ish gaming system... do you think I'll be really disappointed if I go with this to save some money over something like the 8400?

Nah you can oc this to like 3.5ish prolly pretty easy. You don't need to hit 4.0ghz anything over 3.2 is kinda redundant in windows anyways.

7200 looks like an awesome chip.

I'd bet a lot of people hit 3.8Ghz with them easily.

9.5 x 400Mhz FSB = 3.8Ghz! FTW

This looks like a great chip for a budget system. I think it's pretty obvious it wasn't aimed at overclockers.

I just bought one for my dad's P35-DS3L, I think it'll be perfect for that system.

Epic deal.
This chip is like the 8800GT of processors. Okay maybe that's the E8400, but it's close at least.

Shouldn't the 9.5x multi on these things make them push higher than the E8400? Would think so... Unless Intel found a new way to "voltage bin" their CPUs making this thing require more juice than the E8xxx's, which seems odd. The high multiplier but strainful vcore requirements seems a bit shifty to me?

Smaller cache is the only set back.

after a couple years of great oc'ing intel chips we are now seeing diminishing returns, ie e7200, q9300, q9450. q6600 still prob best buy, maybe 84/8500. if 7200 goes for $150ish, and you can get a q6600 for a deuce...........

I wouldn't unnecessarily want to be overclocking it too much... what kind of results are people getting on stock cooling?

E7200 is $135 with free shipping on newegg

STOCK COOLING?

That tiny piece of crap?

At 1.1V I had some very nice results. Completed 1M run at 3.4Ghz and stability was not far from that.
