A question about setting up a new Mac Pro

I set up a new Mac Pro for our graphic designer, and all is going well for now. She stores all her projects on an Appleshare file share. When we boot the system, we can easily go to Connect To Server on the Finder and it remembers the path, something like smb://servername/sharename. It opens fine and such.

My question is this. Whenever she's in an open file dialogue box, the network share doesn't show under devices as it did on her old Mac. How do we get the network drive to show up in that list? This is with the latest 10.5 OSX. Thanks!

Okay, I spoke (typed) too soon. This seems to work, until the system is restarted. Is there a way to make the shared drive "stick" in the devices list?

system prefs-> users-> (select user) login items-> hit the plus button-> select the volume you want to mount at login.

I'm pretty sure the volume has to be mounted when you do this...

I followed your steps above, and it seemed to work, however, we get a connection failed message whenever she boots the Mac up. Once it settles and I assume the networking loads, we can connect to the share just fine. In the lower right of her screen, on the Dock, there is an icon for the connection now.

However, the server isn't shown in the device list when she tries to open a file within an application. If we drag it from the server under devices, it will appear, but as soon as she restarts, it is gone.
