Background:
1. Ordered my 8800GT SC last December from newegg
2. In January registered the card and signed up for the EAR Premium Program (http://www.evga.com/ear/)
3. Sat on the shelf ‘til last week due to time and illness issues
4. Thursday the 6th hooked everything up and “pop & poof of smoke”, dropped off to the local ‘puter shop I frequent for testing
5. Confirmed Friday morning the 7th card is KIA.
So Friday night went on line with evga and started the RMA procedure. As my card was registered and in the EAR program all I had to do was upload a .jpeg copy of my newegg invoice. Then forget about it as I shouldn’t hear anything ‘til the next work day (Monday).
This morning when I finally got around to viewing my emails lo’ and behold had two emails from evga……..one telling me my RMA was approved with shipping instructions and the other request the CC info for cross shipping!
So I’ll ship the card out Monday and my CC approval e-mail just told me the “new” card would be shipped out in 1 – 2 business days.
So far it looks like the $7 and change has been well spent. Coming from the West Coast ground, I’ll wait ‘til Tuesday – Wednesday of next week to give my final opinion.
And who knows, I might get “backwards” lucky and the replacement will be flashed with the latest bios solving the fan and PCI-e 2.0 issues some of the earlier ones had. I was getting ready to do that when it was KIA’ed.
BTW for those that have RMA’ed in general, what have you gotten back – New or Referb’ed?
