Background:

1. Ordered my 8800GT SC last December from newegg
2. In January registered the card and signed up for the EAR Premium Program (http://www.evga.com/ear/)
3. Sat on the shelf ‘til last week due to time and illness issues
4. Thursday the 6th hooked everything up and “pop & poof of smoke”, dropped off to the local ‘puter shop I frequent for testing
5. Confirmed Friday morning the 7th card is KIA.

So Friday night went on line with evga and started the RMA procedure. As my card was registered and in the EAR program all I had to do was upload a .jpeg copy of my newegg invoice. Then forget about it as I shouldn’t hear anything ‘til the next work day (Monday).

This morning when I finally got around to viewing my emails lo’ and behold had two emails from evga……..one telling me my RMA was approved with shipping instructions and the other request the CC info for cross shipping!

So I’ll ship the card out Monday and my CC approval e-mail just told me the “new” card would be shipped out in 1 – 2 business days. :D

So far it looks like the $7 and change has been well spent. Coming from the West Coast ground, I’ll wait ‘til Tuesday – Wednesday of next week to give my final opinion.

And who knows, I might get “backwards” lucky and the replacement will be flashed with the latest bios solving the fan and PCI-e 2.0 issues some of the earlier ones had. I was getting ready to do that when it was KIA’ed.

BTW for those that have RMA’ed in general, what have you gotten back – New or Referb’ed?

When I had to RMA my EVGA 8800GT SC, the turn around was pretty quick, I believe I ordered cross-shipping when I registered it and got it in no time.

I RMA'd my EVGA 512 7900 GT KO without cross shipping and it arrived there on a Thursday. My replacement card was sent out the next day. I was nervous at first due to the speed that I might have done something wrong and they were returning my same card.I actually saw a post here with another guy that has the same suspicious response as mine to the quick turn around. I was pleasantly surprised to get the package and find a 7900GTX. It was a refurb but still an upgrade. :D

Heard similar story from the tech at the local shop I frequent, except I believe it was ASUS this time (that's what the shop carries). I believe it was 7900 or 7950 std or GT and the guy was shipped a GTX also as they were discontinued by that time. Ufortunatly this "upgrade" backfired as the dude was running SLI! That would be my luck!! ;)

my brother RMAd his 7900GT and got a 7950GT KO SC in return, not too bad, referb but it works flawlessly.

RMA'd my 256MB 7900GS two weeks ago and got a 320MB 8800GTS back.

That's is what's cool about the warrenty I guess.....ship in an "obsolete" card and get a "newer" one! :D

Unfortunatly mine's too new for that, but do hope for the newer bios! ;)

evga wanted a signature so I missed getting it yesterday. :( However UPS came early enough for me to get today. As far as wither it would be new or a referb, my guess is new. Because evga stated to only send the bare card and none of the retail box stuff, I expected to get a bare card back. When I opened the UPS box found a shrink wrapped full retail box! Won't be able to determine the bios revision 'til I get back home from work...then I should also know if I need to flash the bios. Hope I don't!! :D

I had to RMA my 8800GT 2 weeks after I got back in Dec. Got back a brand new/sealed 8800GT with the new style fan.

That's what I hope to see when I open the box, however which model do you have? As it seemed to me the 286 version was the only one with the bigger fan...

Just shipped my 7900GT KO off today. Hopefully I get an 8800GTS 320mb like some of you! (and hopefully... not another 7900/7950GT) :D

Well I openned it today and it appears to be the new cooler also. Also notice the plug end seems to look a wee bit differant also.

Hope to find time to test it in the next couple of days (between work and the wife's honey dos)!

Yeah, I wish my wife's 7900 GT KO would be KIA, so she could get a newer one. It really didn't like overclocking and getting vista drivers to work with it is a pain.
