Out of memory!

I just built a new computer. I have 4Gbs of memory.

While playing FSX on the "ultra high" settings, an error message popped up, claiming the system ran out of memory. Then it shut down!

Could it really be possible that 4Gbs of memory is not enough to play a game on "ultra high" graphics settings?
 
You may be experiencing a memory leak from any program on your system but most likely the game you are running.
Check for game updates to see if this is an issue they have fixed.

If that doesnt help or an update doesnt fix it, check the event log for errors.
Make sure your swapfile is enabled and there is space on the drive for it to expand if necessary.
 
I'd make sure the OS has all patches from windows update installed, then as the previous posted said, patch the game to latest version

Ditto is this XP 32bit 64bit, or Vista 32bit or 64bit. Are you running Firefox? Firefox does that to me sometimes when I just wake my computer up from sleep and I didn't shut down firefox. As soon as I load up a game I find out Firefox has taken up about 1.5gb of ram...
 
This is actually a known error with FSX. There are some threads on avsim.com and flightsim.com that deal with this problem specifically.
 
Sounds like a memory leak. This happens when a program allocated data to memory, but doesn't do proper garbage collecting, so the memory allocation keeps getting higher and higher, until you run out of memory.

For starters, you won't see all 4GB if you're running a 32-bit OS.
 
probably the app. check your app even log and see if anything indicates an error with fsx...
 
dont forget to download the new dx 9.0c files that was updated a couple days ago. not in windows update search for a link cannot post one right now.
