OK I want a BIG mouse,
I have large hands and I don't want to claw the mouse, to avoid RSD
I have a Optorite laser, any other large/big mice users?
I'd like a wired version of the Microsoft 6000
anyone want to transplant the guts out of a wired mouse into it?
JK
What large mouse do you use/recommend?

Don't mean to threadjack, but on a related topic, where do you get your gloves? They never seem to make any with fingers long enough.

The Boomslang actually, unfortunately it's not available now, the only boomslangs made recently was the collectors editions which were limited to 10,000

They may start the product line up again and if they do, I'd definately grab one, it's a large flat mouse with very large buttons which allow extensive gaming even with large hands.

Newegg.com has them in stock. And yes, this is a large mouse with awesome tracking. I own one and wouldn't want anything else (maybe a Deathadder).

For a mouse that fits your palm well, the best option would probably be a Logitech MX500-shaped mouse. Possible models are the MX500, MX510, MX518, MX700, MX900, G5, and G7. The best wired ones out of the bunch are the G5 or MX518 if you prefer not to have a laser mouse.

Boomslang is wide but not tall, like the ones the poster mentioned. The Deathadder is pretty beefy and has gotten complaints of being too big for some.

Get the mx518, the mouse is prety large and fits my hand very well. I love it.

I don't read into what he said as specifically asking for tall mice, just large enough for his hands. A flat wide mouse is good for resting your whole hand on, it takes a while to get used to, but so do all mice.

MX1000 , i wish mine didnt die i have fairly large hands an that mouse was one of the best :(

now im stuck using a microsoft wireless laser 5000 ... its ok , but my thumb gets pains in it

Both clawing and palming will have the same chance of you developing RSD if you're resting your wrist on the surface of your mouse/desk. Simply switching to palming over clawing generally doesn't change this habit.

i would say the logitech g5 or mx518. i have hands on the bigger size and they work for me.

Sorry, but am I the only one here that doesn't think an MX 518 is "big?" I'd go with the Boomslang, as has already been recommended, if you can find it for sale. Now, there is a large mouse.

teh 518 I had, and no it's not BIG enough
that vertical one that FallenMystic found looks awesome I may order it
I'd like to try the Deathadder, anyone got one to sell?
Most mice are made for liddle handed peoples

The new Steelseries Ikari is on the big side from the reviews I have read.

all mice bow down to the OCZ Equalizer, since its only $20 and its 2500 DPI

i used to have the mx518 and it was a good mouse at the time but the OCZ mouse blows everything away,

DPI means very little when it comes to how good a mouse is.

i think your wrong on that one. it may not matter to a certain degree, but it does matter. go use a 400 or 800 dpi mouse than go to a 2000 2500 dpi mouse. i could tell a difference from 1600 on my 518 to the 2000 on my g5.

The OCZ is a rebranded A4tech mouse, and it is smaller than the Logi 518 or Deathadder by a good margin.

It does as was mentioned have the best cord by far. Thin and very flexible, yet strong. I still don't understand why "gaming" mice have to have such thick stiff cords...

Anyone else think of the man-hands episode from Seinfeld when reading this topic?

Of course you would want something with more than 400 or even 800 DPI for a gaming mouse. Yet a higher DPI does not equal better mouse by far. Currently the best performing gaming sensors are the 3G IR sensors which do not go past 1800 DPI. esreality.com has a nice comparison chart of mice and they conduct very good tests. First and foremost is the Razer Deathadder with the 3G at 1800 DPI and then the MX500 and MX518 in second and third place. None of these mice even touch 2000 DPI, so automatically assuming that high DPI means good mouse is erroneous. If you followed that logic, the Razer Lachesis would be the undisputed king of mice with it's 4000 DPI sensor.

Do you really use the 2500 DPI at highest sensitivity level for playing games? That's overkill and beyond usable for almost anybody.

yeah i really game at my mouses max dpi, 2000. and if its too fast for you at the max dpi i find it better to lower the mouse setting in game than lower the dpi.

Yes, that's what I was saying. You will almost always run at the highest DPI setting (I do) but will lower the sensitivity to suit your needs.
Running at 2000 DPI with the highest sensitivity setting is insane and impractical. Unless maybe if you have a 30" screen (wish I did, heh).

I had the original and I hated the shape (large hands as well). It's a personal preference thing, so the OP should be aware that most people have a love hate relationship with the boomslang shape.

I have a wired MS 6000 laser mouse...

The Logitech G9 has interchangeable grips: one that is narrow and one that is wider. Maybe that'll meet your need? I love this mouse.
