My 3rd gen ipod is getting a bit long in the tooth (and short in the battery life, and a broken hold and rewind/previous switch) so I'm looking at a replacement. I've been out of the loop outside of hearing about the new iPods and Zunes, but I've heard problems about both. My 20gb isn't enough for all my songs, so I'm looking at getting 30 or more (if I decide to add video). I like the idea of the wifi sync with the zune (are there any other must have reasons?), but the iPod definitely has a much larger userbase. Or, is there something else that you guys really recommend? Oh, also, I've heard in the past about many bugs with the ipod classic, have these been worked out?

Look into the Creative Zen. I bought one for my brother and it was pretty impressive. The interface on it is damn near an Explorer window. Doesn't get much simpler, while the iTunes and Zune interface are extremely prohibitive and often counterintuitive. The screen on the Zen is huge, as well, though I'm not as impressed with the audio quality as I am with my Zune. It will definitely suffice, though.

ive considered the zen, but im not sure how i feel about having to carry the dongle around, just in case

Ive got a 30gig zune and I absolutely love this thing. Only bad part about the wifi is if your transferring songs to another zune user they can only listen to it 3 times before it goes poof....but, all in all, still a badass mp3 player.

Zune is a solid player...though if you have a smaller music library the itouch is a compelling option as well...

Wait, the Zen is great at one thing that you shot it down for, SOUND. Creative ranks with others in the industry as the leading Sound card manufacturer. The interface though nice, is buggy, sluggish at times. Its pretty thick and battery life is horrible. I know cause had one, reason being, the sound. Unmatched against others in that category. I moved to a Zune, which is doing its job well. Not leaning to any sides here just looking to listen to my music with easy and great sound. Ipod, the only thing that bothers me is Itunes. Great player though.
