With not being very impressed with Nv latest offering of GTS cards and high prices of the GT cards and with rumours of the new 9 series coming out next year i think no is no point spending over £200 on a new card at this stage. I would like a short term upgrade for my GPU as it passed its time with todays games. yes i know a 7900GTX ist much of jump compared to 8000 series but i need to put some money aside for next years card. Atm im playing Cod4 lot of time and i can see myself still playing in few months time but the GS ist up to maxing out this game evn tho i think ive oc to its max . I only run on 1280x1024 but would like to max out this game but would the GTX be up to doing this even if its oc a bit? I can pick this card up for around 70-90 on ebay is this to much?

thanks

Edit:Oh btw i im not going ATI lol

I'd probably hold off all together until new cards are released. That way you could pick up 8 series for cheap maybe (or not waste the money so you can get something better)

I have the upgrade urge now. I could get a 8800GTX or something and have maybe 30% (if not less) performance gains but I'm just going to hold out even though it pains me not to be able to play at higher settings. I had to turn shadows off in CoD4 and I really hate doing stuff like that but I'm determined to hold out. The leap from what you have now to a next gen card will be much more impressive than a 7900GS to GTX. I went from a 6800GT to a 7800GT a few years ago and pretty much felt like I wasted money. The difference in performance would be even less than that with a 7900gt to a GTX I bet.

thanks for the quick repley. I think your are right to hold on till next year. lol i think ive got the upgrade bug because everyone esle is spending money on cards like these no tommrow and feel i should do the same but i know it soon be wasted as such by these new cards coming out. like your self everythink is on high with no aa/af or shadows or soften smoke maybe i just have give in for now.
