anayone try to get back into it but not succeed? i'm trying to do it and buy a low end gaming rig in the future. bought a lot of games. hope it's money well spent. maybe I should try playing games at places like cyberden in MD. but looks embarassing playing with mostly minors lol.

The only game that can hold my attention for more than a few hours lately is still CSS.

And I have all the new games here. GoW, Orange Box, CoD4, Crysis, WiC, etc...

They all have their strengths and weaknesses, but the gameplay I want is no where to be found. A good competitive FPS would be nice.

Some sort of epic rpg is what I want. No more of this action rpg stuff. I want something like Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, The Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil, Planscape, Fallout, ect...Something that takes me 6 months to a year to beat.

The Witcher? I heard it's pretty damn long.

But I guess it's action RPG.

I guess try NWN 2 and the expansion, both are good old school RPG's.

Count me in this club. I was hardcore into the original CS for many years; having played since beta 4. After the release of CS:S and Steam, it just got old and any subsequent games I played on the side (TFC, Q3A, Tribes 2) also took a backseat. I stopped "cold turkey" about two years ago.

I've since built a new system and I'm a newbie all over again. I don't take things nearly as seriously (no CAL, no clans, etc.), and I'm having more fun as a result. I'm still trying to get over how good the graphics look on most games now. TF2 is incredibly fun and COD4 looks superb. It's a great time to be a PC gamer again.

I happened to me (hiatus) some time ago. Back then I was on a P4 2.8C, and a GF6800. I stopped when R6 Vegas couldn't run above 20 fps with bare minimum quality setting lol. There was never any hope of playing Crysis, COD4 and games like that.

But as fate would have it, my home line was struck by lightning, and it damage my motherboard (plus the ADSL modem and CRT). So, I thought it was a good time for a whole new dual core system. That new system got me right back into gaming. Finished R6 Vegas in no time :D

Now I have Crysis, thinking of getting COD4 when my wallet allows me to

Your system plays an important role, you might want to get a decent one just so you won't quickly stumble into the old common problem many faces with lack of system power.

I have gotten back to pc gaming like mad. So many great games recently I have spent like 300 bucks on games.
One game keeps me going back is Dawn of War DC. Many great games lately.

Hmm I haven't been into it so much in the last year. It's one of the reasons I haven't upgraded (then again my system is still powerful enough to play almost anything at high settings/res) Stalker and CoD 4 have really gotten me back into gaming though and I will probably upgrade for future games since games are starting to change for the better and becoming interesting to me again. CoD 4 especially though. Thats next level gaming in almost all ways.

I'm about to take a hiatus, nothing has peaked my interest as of late. Despite everyone saying "OMG OMG this is the best year of gaming evar!!!!!@@@@!!".

i'm about to take one as well. i'm gonna keep my copy of ETQW and i'll still have my Steam account, but i think i'm gonna sell my rig and just focus on school and then once i'm done, i'll go buy a new rig. hell, i haven't even had the drive to play a game on my break so far and my last day was on fri. i came on here to play something but i'm just finding myself on this forum lol. poor me haha

sort of, went to a 360 pretty much exclusively for gaming online, completely forgot about FPS's (thank god), what a waste of time, so the PC angle was no longer valid

built a PC recently but the only gaming i do is the old classics, Uplink, and an occasional round or two of CS/CS:S, as in a round or two a month....not even enough to mention....

I go through the phases.
When theres a rash of crappy buggy games, I stop for a while, frustrated. When a good one comes out, I get into it again.

Quake Wars...

I've been taking a semi-hiatus from gaming soley so I can concentrate on working and then get a kick-ass computer later to handle crysis, UT3 powered games etc. semi-hiatus because I can't resist some TF2 now and then.

Just got back into it myself. Just got my new system (in sig) but still only play TF2 and HL2. Need to get me some other games soon =P

wow, count me in this club as well.

i just recently built a quad core box after having used a mac laptop for a while strictly for freelance design/development work and the occassional wow session. have since cancelled my wow account (took too much time), and decided to build a "hackintosh" box so i can still run my favorite os, and also play the latest games.

i bought the orange box first and foremost (couldnt't wait to play tf2). i had always been an MMO fan as well as playing lots of CS classic (never tried CS:S). anyway, pretty neat to see this thread, as i've been goign through the same motions as you all with trying to get back into pc gaming (i've never been a console guy, last console was ps2 original, which i promptly sold to a friend a few months later).

looking forward to trying some of the latest GOTY titles.

i just got into it again after building a machine for my side business in photography (and accidently threw in a 8800gts 640). I found out I don't have the time for gaming that I did in college, and that really sucks. It's just not as fun as the days when CS first came onto the scene my freshman year in college.

We'll see if that changes when I get TF2 for Christmas
