I'm an engineering student at iowa state and i'm going to get a new calculator for christmas, but i'm not sure what to get. the TI-89 is good I know but I saw that texas instruments just released the Nspire. I know hp makes some engineering calculators too, but i'm not sure what they all have. So can anyone point me in the direction of some reviews or other suggestions for this? that would be great

Go for the TI89, more features than the Nspire. I have an HP50G but I use the 89 more because it is easier. The more powerful of the 89 and the 50g is definitely the HP50G. I'll sell it to ya!

ti-nspire cas is the actual version of nspire i'm looking at from what i have seen the ti-nspire cas is the newer version of the ti-89, but i'm not sure...... the hp i would assume is better than both right?

The HP is more powerful, but the TI is easier to use. The HP has a better CAS and can do RPN.

I loved my TI-89. it's pretty print, 3-d graphing and powerful builtin apps makes it a dream. programming on it was a bit harder than on my 85. But its still a sweet calculator, it wont let you down.

I think the only difference is the keyboard, screen, and size.

92+ is faster and has more memory and a couple extra functions I beleive as well.
I had both and definately prefer the 92+ over the 89. Both went bad on me though (89's memory went bad), and my old TI 85 was stolen so now I am calculatorless!

I'm gonna give this thread CPR to ask a question.
Is there a good graphing calculator software program for Windows Mobile? For a Dell Axim x51v.

Edit: I know there are many, any GOOD recommendations?
