I've been playing Wow for the past couple years... and... that's really all I've been playing.

The GF and myself have decided to stop playing as it's a timesink, and well... we are both bored of it.

Between us, 4 70's and about 20k in gold will expire in a week (prolly until the next expansion)

I've put together a nice little gaming rig... and i would like to play some games on it...

I just have no idea what's good!

I've heard a lot about bioshock, but... that's really all I've heard about. I'll try to pick it up soon..

Anyone have a couple of titles that are popular that would be worth playing?

Thanks
Danny

can i hav ur stuf?

Just kidding, but you'll be glad you quit WoW. You will soon realize how much free time you have now and won't know what to do with yourself. Expect absolute boredom for a few days. Anyways, it depends what kinds of games you like... single player, multiplayer, fps, rpg, etc.

The new thing right now is Team Fortress 2. If you like FPS games, it's a great one to start. Right now it's just "beta" with the preorder of the Orange Box (on Steam), which is packed with a handful of amazing games. I'd definitely recommend preordering the Orange Box if you have never played the Half-Life 2 series. It's a perfect time to start playing the HL2 series because episode 2 will be released soon.

You didn't give any specifics so here are my current timesinks that I would highly recommend. All are very different type of games, though.

Overlord
Total War Kingdoms
Bioshock (on sale at gogamer.com I believe, but I am at work and can't verify it)

What sort of game are you looking for?

FPS, RTS, Stratergy, adventure, action, platformer etc

What sort of theme/style do you enjoy, obviously fantasty due to WoW, what about futuristic, cartoon etc

Seriously, I like anything that's fun to play.

I've played a little HL, Rainbow six, UT.. But that's basically it. I played D2 for a while, and went from that to WoW.

I've heard a lot of good things about Bio shock, i read the reviews and saw it at work. When i saw it on sale.. i picked it up. I should have it next week sometime.

I'm looking forward to playing a game i don't have to sink soo much time into all the time to get anything done.

I'll check out the games you guys posted and see if i like any.

Thanks for the input so far!

Pre-Order the Orange Box off steam, it will get you in the beta for TF2 and also give you quite a few games to play (HL2 series / Portal (not yet released)). Try downloading some of the popular demos off steam / fileplanet / fileshack and see what you like.

Yeah Orange box will be a good deal, it'll give you HL2+Ep1+Ep2+Portal as singleplayers, plus lost coast, and then TF2 as multiplayer, all for a reasonable price.

Bioshock is a great game, it's pretty hard to dislike. For RTS I'd look into Company of Heroes for a WW2 spin, and SupermeCommander for a futuristic RTS.

Honestly I'd grab steam and just go on a demo downloading spree and find some stuff that appeals, there's tonnes of demos on steam. Also try grabbing some demos from www.gamershell.com

When you preorder the orange box, do you get sent the games? or just download them?

I hope you aren't one of those gamers that has to have the latest eye candy.

Since I didn't see you list them I will recommend them.
Fallout1/2

Balders Gate series

Planescape: Torment

NeverWinter Nights Platinum plus a ton of great user created content for SP & MP

NeverWinter Nights 2 and its' soon to be released expansion pack Mask of the Betrayer

KotOR & KotOR:TSL Yes TSL is a complete game if some what unsatisfying. You should play TSL at least once unmodded. So that way you will appreciate what Team Gizka is doing with TSLRP. You also have Team Exile restorting some the the content that Team Gizka is not restoring. You even have Team Jawa trying to restore some of the cut content from K1.

Ghost Recon the original & its' two expansion packs Desert Siege - Island Thunder. Plus a lot of great user created content.

Sacred: Gold Edition which has the original game, Sacred Plus (Free expansion pack) & Sacred Underworld (Expansion pack). It is an action isometric RPG ala the Diablo series.

Another question on the orange box.

If you wait till release, can you buy it in the store with all the disks? Or is this a download only deal?

And, if you do the DL thing, can you at least back them up?

Yes, you can buy the boxed version that has disks, and yes, if you DL it you can back them up using steam's backup tool.

Also, if you register the games on steam, you can download them whenever, its not a 1 time thing. You can also download them to any computer as long as you login with your steam account. Its really the best gaming program out there since it stores all your info and lets you download/reinstall it whenever w/o a fee.
