All because of Star Control 2!

Best game ever made for any system bar none!

Never played a 3DO before. Can't find one anywhere.

hey focker you remember road rash for the 3do?

Road Rash owned.

I remember when my Dad took me and my bro to CC to pick up a new system. The PS1 had just come out not too long ago and wasnt established yet, and there was still the 3DO. We had our choice of either system and fortunately we chose the PS1. It was a hard choice then, and fortunately the right one.

I loef SC2, I always thought it was a PC game forever though, never a console title.

Screw that...

Playing the game "Army Men" by 3DO was the best ever. Played that game, multiplayer over "HEAT" soo many times. I was ranked like 3rd on the boards. Then they started making about 50 variations Army men games and ruined it :(

Kind of off-topic since that was a game for PC though...

I remember playing Return Fire on my brothers friends 3DO back in the day.

Wow the 3D0... haven't heard that one in a long time. I thought the Neo Geo was expensive; this thing took the cake!

IIRC, the 3D0 had no copy protection or region encoding, am I right?

I never played the 3D0. Hell, I never saw one in person, sitting on somebody's TV stand, or sitting on a store shelf.

Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo was a 3D0 exclusive for YEARS. I always wanted one for that game alone, but I never ended up getting one.

Killing Time was THE best fps for its time. The game had 0 loading time which was amazing for the time. It was also VERY scary. One of those do not play with the lights out at night games.

I just seen that they made Return Fire for the PS1, I'm going to see if I can track down a copy and so I can put it on my PSP.

Except when it came to game costs. The Neo Geo easily blows away any console in game cost.

And yeah, very few 3DO games had regional lockout, so it was easy to import stuff for. Of course, could you really find any games worth importing?

I will always remember 3DO for Gex the Gecko and Putt Putt Adventures.

On the 3DO, I remember playing the same race on Need for Speed over and over, trying to create the most spectacular crash ever. Also played Return Fire on my 3DO for hours and hours. I still have Return Fire for PS1, so I can occasionally throw it in the PS2 and reminisce. :)

I had Cannon Fodder on the Atari Jaguar (along with Alien vs. Predator). Ahhh, memories.

This thread brings back memories. Madden was also amazing on the 3do compared to the rest of the systems.

The zombie/ghost housemaids creeped me out: "Tickle, tickle".

And the evil ducks...

I was backed up for days and took a shit that was better than the 3do and it cost much less too just some sweat and tears.

3do had the first and the best need for speed ever.

And Road Rash was far better on it than the PS1. Return Fire was my fav, and had an awesome soundtrack.

I bought a $700 3DO, and actually still have it. Panasonic version baby. Had it, Saturn, and PS1 all at launch. Was great. :)

Crash and burn was one of the most amazing games I had ever played at the time. My friends at the time all had Super Nintendo's, and when I got the 3DO it was like the second coming of christ. Jaws dropped to the floor, it was incredible lol.

The best 3DO games where Twisted, Road Rash, Jurassic Park, SSFIITurbo, Gex, and Burning Soldier. It really wasn't that bad of a system, it's just more 3rd party developers worked with Sony - which was the death for 3DO. It actually had quite a following at the time of release...

Man what a failure that thing was...everyone one I knew back then either had a NES/Super NES, PS1, Genesis or Saturn but my only experience with 3DO was playing Road Rash on the demo at my local Best Buy... and then reminding myself that it cost more than twice the other consoles and going home to play my SNES and Saturn:cool:

If you never really played it then you can't say how good/bad it was. Don't knock it because of the price. Get a job.

my mom worked at toys r us and brought home the demo unit of 3do so I was livin it up. Star Control 2 was indeed my favorite what a fun fun game. Also wing commander was fun as well as road rash with the official rock soundtrack with soundgarden etc.

Neo Geo was the system I wanted. But yeah those game cartridges.. IIRC they were around $150-200 a piece !

Never played or knew anyone with a 3DO either.

My buddy Paul had a 3DO...... we played NFS for hours on that thing, as well as Shockwave........ but Paul lived in the ghetto, and his 3DO got jacked during a home-invasion robbery............. so he ended up buying a PS1, and I think we had NFS for that too.......... and the 3DO one was better.............. damn robbers...........

Yes, I believe Neo-Geo cartridges were so expensive because they were MVS arcade units in a cartridge, as in exactly the same game one would play in the arcade......... the console itself was around $600, IIRC..............

I had the Panasonic FZ-1 with the front load tray! Think it was like $400 back in the day. I had a GREAT surprise that Christmas! I had Super Street Fighter 2, Gex, Samurai Showdown, that weird game show game with all the FMV(?), Road Rash, a couple other games. That system was awesome. Until somebody broke into our house and stole that along with my SNES and our TV and stuff. Insurance $ got me a PS1, a better TV, better VCR, etc.

3DO was truly great, awesome console, yet lived a short life.

I have two 3DOs for sale, after some home invasions I made... :D
