The Darkness..Sweet Game..No Hype??

The Darkness kicks ass. Pure and simple. I saw my girlfriend playing it on my XBox 360 (which I rarely use for anything other than HD-DVD playback) and I was not only amazed by the graphics and sound, but I liked the premise and basic storyline of the game. I started playing it last night after she beat it (I didn't watch her anymore after I decided to play it) and I was sucked in for about 2.5-3.0 hours or so before I went to bed. I really enjoyed the game and I haven't felt that sucked into a game in awhile. Especially not on a console.

Another thing I'd like to note is that I don't really like FPS games on consoles, I can do it but I really don't like it all that much. The Darkness has decent controls for a console FPS game and I found it pretty comfortable for the most part. Though I do die a bit more often than I would on a theoretical PC equivalent of this game.

The game character is really a cross between the Crow and Spawn. It's quite awesome really.

Can anyone confirm for me whether or not the 360 version has bonus content or not, like the PS3 version?

Okay, seems like I've gotten to the bottom of it.

I asked if there were any content differences on the GameFAQs boards. The results?

This is wrong too. It does in fact rip half the guys face off in the 360 version..

I can't say how many popeyes there are (so far i've seen parts of 3 different ones), I have only watched parts of some of the videos on the TV's.

I usually channel surf, then shoot the TV when I don't find anything worth watching.

Not that anyone cares, but the storyline and characters in this game are so freakin far off from the comics it's virtually unrecognizeable. I had read through the vol 1. set previous to this game being released, and I thought maybe that the newer comics had something in there that I had missed.... so I read through those, and, nope.

They left out some of the coolest stuff, and they made a bunch of the bad guys in the comics Estacados allies, not to mention the storyline being something completely off from the comics, with some notable exceptions. (jenny, aunt sarah, butcher)

The game still rocks, but I just found it weird that they got such liberal creative license with the property. Probably because it's not that well known.

Sidenote: Did anybody sit through the entire showing of "To kill a mockingbird"? I got stuck and had to restart the checkpoint.

I never read the comics, so I can't say anything on it's "authenticity" or whatever you want to call it.
I did, however, enjoy the game's story thoroughly.

Lastly, I triedddd watching To Kill A Mockingbird, but my dog hit the R2 button (the Sixaxis' R2 button requires the slightest tap) with his tail, causing me to shoot the TV. :(

so I was playing this game, beat it, was sitting through the credits to see if there is anything at the end. The credits are superlong, I was waiting to see if there was any easter eggs at the end, and the connection to the internet(s) reset.

So, I logged back in, and it made me load back from the last checkpoint. Meaning I had to go through the last part again, and now I have no achievement points.

I also got the black hole one, and it was taken away earlier in the game.

great.

When did you guys get the achievement for beating it?

Damn that sucks... but no, there's nothing @ the end of the credits. I sat through them as well, and on the PS3, there's no indication of when you get the Accomplishment for beating it. When the credits were over, I just checked out the Accomplishments menu and it was there, completed.
For reference, every other Accomplishment completed has a "Accomplishment achieved" (or was it completed? acquired? eh, I forget) on the bottom right of the screen.

It really did suck. Those are the longest credits, evar.

Whats up with the multiplayer, mine was so lagged out I couldn't play.

Just rented it for my PS3 (free rentals FTW).

It's a great game, Starbreeze does it again. And the subway sequences seem very reminiscent of Riddick (one of my first person favorites of all time). My only gripe is that there's slowdown every now and then. Other than that, I haven't played a game with such a compelling story in a long time. The monologues that the main character does to disguise the loading screen was a fantastic touch.

For anyone who doubts this game, at least rent it! It's one of the best picks on the PS3 right now, and definitely a good choice for the 360. That said, I can't justify spending $60 on this when I finished it in three days. I don't see much replay value here, but it's a sweet ride.

Awesome game.

I just felt bad for the Left head of the darkness because it never got to eat any of the hearts.

Will probably go back and finish up the achievements (not online though cause I hear it sucks).

This game really needs a demo so it gains the attention it deserves.

Yeah he would try and grab scraps from the right side, but alas he never gets to eat.

I agree it's a fun game. i especially love the slithering head thing where you can creep up on people and eat them. on one of the tv i was surprised they showed a sonny chiba movie. i ended up watching the first half hour of it before running off :D

I have beaten this game in career mode and made almost 700k in online winnings.

But today, I turned off ABS (along with traction and stability when I started the game) and switched to manual transmission.

Holy shit, this game is hard again. How many of you race with everything turned off?
