so I read that the battery has like 300-400 charges or charge cycles? so I use my ipod every day and do the email/surf on my pearl. I'm pretty sure I would have to charge my iphone every day due to general use as well as phone use... so 300-400 charges gives me, on average 350 charges which won't even last me a year? seriously? or did i totally misunderstand the charge on the battery. (not to mention you can't swap the battery)

soo, what the hell does that mean? how about a time estimate for the typical use it all day, stick it on the charger when i get home standard? no one discharges their phone if they can help it.

Just treat it normally; when you go to get yours replaced Apple will give you a loaner phone that after one sync with iTunes will be exactly the same as your own phone anyway...

from what I read, if you use your battery 25% and charge it, 50% and charge it, 25% and charge it, that equals 1 "cycle". so 400 cycles is plenty.

I'm not worried about battery at all... any time I'm driving; my iPhone is charging, because I have a car stereo with a 30-pin iPod dock connector; and it works with my iPhone, and I can still receive calls and everything. I just slide to answer, and tap speaker, works like a charm!

You have to pay for a loaner phone if you need one during the 3 days its going to be gone
IMHO its a really stupid f*cking idea, especially with a cellphone which is pretty important.

I just would like to know how hard would it have been to make a phone with a user replaceable battery like every other manufacturer..

Apple fucked up with this one....Just like with the Ipod battery fiasco..

The device is really thin - if you added a removable compartment to house the battery - you would most likely have to make it a touch thicker. Also - how big of an issue is the battery really going to be. After 3-400 charges - are you really going to notice that the device holds 15% less charge than it did when you bought it new. And - if you bought the phone in week 1 - what are the chances that you will not buy the next iPhone released - which negates the concern of the battery life to begin with because you will have moved on by then?

They made a design decision, based on what would appeal to the most people. To accommodate a removable battery, they would have the following options - 1. make it thicker, 2. reduce battery size or 3. give up other internal features.

As the saying goes, they cannot please everyone. However, I just don’t think this was a fuck up.

Apple's long running costumer base is used to upgrading like this. Not to many people keep updating their g4 up to g5 tech specs (that I've seen anyway). With computers at least, apple's way of upgrading is buying a new unit. No special heatsink fans, graphics cards, etc. For that reason this should only be hard to swallow for new converts, I suspect.
