Safe Corsair RAM for EVGA 680i

I assume your memory voltage is set to auto, which is why it's lower than what it should be. Try loading your computer with something which will use the memory a lot and see if the voltage increases.

Where do I check this setting? MB Bios? Software utility? Btw, I was expecting utilities for overclocking and whatnot to come with the motherboard. The cd that came with the board has "Motherboard Drviers," "Audio Drivers," and "NVIDIA nTune Software." The MB drivers would not work -- nothing happend when I clicked on the link for them within the CD's menu (I had to go to EVGA's website and get the "EVGA 680i Chipsets" driver, which I assume is the same thing?). I had the same problem when clicking the Audio Driver button within the CD menu (had to get that from the website too) (I am running Vista btw, maybe Vista is stoping something from loading?). However, the nTune softare started up and installed, but it looks like a way out of date version when I compare it to current version listed on NVIDIA's website -- plus, it has no options for overclocking. I read a review about this board here that said it was supposed to come with awesome overclocking software. Can someone shed some light on this for me?

You mean like load a program that is a resource hog, and then check the voltages again?

Eh, i'd try to stay away from nTune if you're planning on overclocking. It's not the best utility out there but, i suppose, you could use it if you're interested in overclocking your graphics card.

Try opening a large file (since it'll load into your RAM) or something and see if the voltages change at all. I'm not really sure what'd be best to show this, though; i guess anything which uses the RAM will do, i don't know.

If you want to change the memory voltage from auto to something fixed, you'll have to do it in the BIOS. However, i'd try setting it at 2.1v, since the motherboard is notorious for overvolting memory and, eventually, killing it. Are you familiar with the BIOS?

Do you think I should uninstall nTune?

Is there a utility you recomend for OC'ing?

Also, isn't nTune for more than just for overclocking? Isn't it aslo for bois updates other MB related stuff as well?

Wow, is 2.1 safe then? Do I just need to avoid going over 2.1v? Also, as far as right now goes, is it safe to undervolt seeing as how it is currnetly at 1.85v?

/EDIT: Does anyone have any idea if this MB is supposed to come with specific software/utility for easy OC'ing? If so, what is it -- I'm not finding anything of that sort included.

No, i'd keep nTune since it's useful for other stuff. I just installed it, a few minutes ago, but i can't contol the fan speed on my 8800GTX with it; can you?

RivaTuner is a pretty good overclocking utility, from what i've heard; although, i've never actually used it, myself.

Although your memory can run at 1.85v, it may need more under load which is why "Auto" is a useful setting since it alters it when needed. I'd try to stay sub-2.1v for now, just to be on the safe side. That is, as long as it's stable.

Excellent thread, I learned a lot from it. What is a rule of thumb voltage? Specifically, I'm running G.Skill, and it seems to do okay only @ 2.05v. Any lower, and I have stability issues. It's 6400-5-5-5-15. I run it at 1T.

Do you think it will be more stable @ 2.1? Or is that too much voltage?

EDIT: Rivatuner is wonderful if for nothing other than the ability to set the fan to high on a Geforce 8800 GTS. I run mine at 100% always, since noise isn't an issue for me. My case fans are louder than my Video card fans anyway. nTune isn't the most stable or refined of apps... my opinion
