Asus P5K Deluxe @ Newegg $219

Newegg says the memory standard is "DDR2 1066" will this run on DDR2 800?

The fact that it officially supports DDR2 1066 just means if you put 1066Mhz memory in it it will default to that speed without you having to go into the BIOS and change the memory ratio in order to run that speed or higher. On a board that only supports up to DDR2 800 the 1066Mhz memory would default to 800Mhz if you didn't overclock it.

Awww crud, looks like I ordered my system 2 days too early. I'd have gotten the mobo from them, for cheaper, and the RAM I bought dropped $50 between then and now. Sigh. Anyone know if Newegg is hip to refunding the price difference? I got Amazon to do that for me a few weeks ago on a new HD DVD player, but then they have a better return policy too.

Good luck getting money back from Newegg. Their shipping is fast and thats about it, nothing else is good about Newegg any more.

When you recieve your items, give NE a call, then whine a bit, I'm sure they'll give you the difference back.

Eh, I'm not much of a whiner, just a bitcher. :) I'll probably just suck it up. Amazon doesn't have restock fees, so they kind of have to make you happy. NE's restock fee minus the difference would really only net me $9, not really worth my time.

It will run any DDR2 ram.

Thanks for the info. Thats what I figured but I just wanted to make sure. Seems like this board it a pretty good deal.

Can someone with this board let me know how the integrated sound...sounds? Better than a Audigy 2?

Its pretty good, can hear a little system static with headphones but alot better than the P5B Deluxe. As well its a great clocker, very stable at high RAM speeds compared to P5B as well. Nothing wrong with this board at all. Great BIOS options, it has everything! Oh and clocks the quad cores better than P5B :D

What is your Overclock?

Thanks for the heads up. Will be ordering my P5K Deluxe in July when C2Q prices drop.

Give them a call or talk to those online chat reps. Actually, if you decline delivery and goes back to them, they will reimburse you the whole amount without restocking fee. But talk to them anyway, they are very good about things like this.

I have been waffling about this board, I really want to wait for the G38 but I really don't expect I will do crossfire and do I really want to buy DDR3 when all this great DDR2 can be had so cheap?

Hi,
Quick survey, what video card are you planning to run, my choices are

GTX
GTS
2900XT

I am thinking either 2900 or GTX, as I can no longer do crossfire I am thinking GTX.

Yep, talked to Newegg, they advised that they don't usually give refunds, but they'd grant me a "one time exception", don't know how strict they are on that. So don't ask for a refund if it's like only $10, heh. In my case, the $55 back was worth it. Besides, I might just spend it back on them again for more RAM :)
