I currently have a Sirius Starmate in my car and I would really really like to get one of those portable GPS units (Tom Tom or Garmin) that stick on the window. Since my Starmate is already there is there any sort of combo unit that has both GPS and Sirius? I know there are some head units that have GPS and are XM/Sirius ready but I dont want to spend $1000s for it nor do I want to pull out my stock radio.

I googled for something like it and just found some POS generic thing. Anybody know of anything better/more mainstream.

only thing I know of is like a whole car entertainment system with an lcd screen that flips out type of thing. Go to cruchfield you can find them on the low end for around 1200 I think.

yeah i did see a bunch of things like that....a head unit with a flip out 7" screen but I dont want to replace my stock radio.

I was just looking for a GPS unit that sticks to the windshield and can also get sirius.

guess they dont make anything like that...........yet

you're likely NOT going to find a GPS unit that has Sirius built-in and the rationale is rather oblique, but true. I'm a Sirius subscriber, so this makes me just as sad as you.

XM offers a weather service called WX Weather that broadcasts METAR weather observations and reports for airports. For anyone who's ever done any flying, METAR reports are your standard for weather. Well, TomTom and Garmin (espescially) make their _real_ money making GPS/FlightPlan units (called Glass Cockpits) for General Aviation aircraft (rather than for consumer automobiles) and these Garmin and TomTom units natively sync up to XM in order to capture the WX Weather reports.

It sucks, but there's probably a clause in those contracts that prohibits TomTom and Garmin from using Sirius in any of their units, regardless of market. This is not to say that it won't _ever_ happen, but I don't see it happening before any forthcoming Sirius/XM merger.
