Can bad RAM cause random BSOD's and random instability?

I recently upgraded to an Asus P5K Deluxe, 2GB Crucial Ballistix, and an E6400. However I started getting random BSOD's and such and sometimes my IE just stops working for no reason. I ran Orthos CPUStress for about 2 hours with no errors. However, when I run the Blend test, I get almost instant errors. Is this a sign of bad RAM or something else?

Possibly, download and run Memtest with all ram sticks installed. If you get even one error then pull all ram sticks and test one by one. Faulty memory causes all kinds of weird issues. For me it was random hard locks, blue screens, and random reboots.

If you haven't done so, be sure to change your memory voltage in the BIOS to whatever the Ballistix require. That alone can cause problems. I would manually set your timings as well.

Are you overclocking?

Thanks for the replies. I have changed the voltages to the 2.2V required and fixed the timings and I will see if it works.

Also, does anyone know where to get the memtest86 that is bootable from a USB stick because I don't have a floppy drive and I have no blank CD's.

Yeah memtest being bootable from a floppy should be bootable from a usb stick.

Ok thanks for the info and I will run memtest soon. The voltage and timing change seemed to help. Thanks for the tip andy, nice to see you helping even if I am not running OCZ. I'll remember that next time I look to pick up some RAM.

No problem with the help, I was on the forum and saw this so I figured I'd put my 2 cents in. :D
