Foxconn 8800 GTX OC 630/2000. $520 AR.

This thing better last at least a year, lol. :) yay for debt. :(

Just went for the eVGA 8800GTS 640 from Amazon for $336AR. I have an 680i so I probably wasn't going to buy a 2900 anyway, but was hoping it could push 8800 prices down even more. Given current performance I don't think nVidia will need to lower prices again for a while.

I had been waiting for a few good games I wanted to play to queue up, and finally got NWN2 an Stalker waiting to be played so seemed like a good time to pull the trigger and replace 7900GS.

getting either and XFX or eVGA 640mb GTS.

I can't speculate on improved drivers with the 2900. its just not worth it.

Fuck i payed 408 dollars for my 8800gts 640mb a week ago with 30 mail in rebate awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

I'm part of the "I bought a GTS back in December of 2006,because I knew full well then that the R600 would be late and stink up the place" club ? :D j/k....

But seriously,OMG! Near 7 months..... for that !?? Rumours or no,I fully expected the R600 to stomp all over the ULTRA,forget about the GTS... especially given the 'paper' specs. Its like AMDati did two launches today...one was a kick ass paper launch, and the
second a half assed hard launch.

lol nm i just canceled it got the powercolor 2900 XT.:D  im more hormonal than a 50 yo going through menopause :D . im limited to 1280x1024 anyways and don't plan on getting bigger LCD so lol i guess im good :p :D

I did better. I payed $389 for mine with a $30 MIR over 3 weeks ago. :D

I'll put both your minds at ease; I bought my Asus 8800GTS/640MB approx 3 months ago for $600 (danish price equalled approx dkk3.300 at the time divided by an approximated DKK/$ exchangerate of 5.5 DKK/$) ofcause that was before shipping but including 25% of danish VAT. In other words relax you got it cheap ;)

Deciding between a pair of GTS640s or GTX768s right now - no way I'm buying a 2900, that's for sure!

I'm about ready to pull the trigger on an EVGA 8800GTS 640 for $329 after MIR and shipping at the Egg. I might wait a day or two just to see if they throw in free shipping

EDIT: Just bought it. Figured I better jump on it before Nvidia realizes that no one is going to buy the 2900XT and pull back their price cuts.

ATI's power draw was the reall killer in addition to the power connectors being oriented perpendicular to the card. I would have had to cut my 5-1/4" bays in my SFF rig to make it fit. Thanks for the price drops (Nvidia) ATI.

Can a thread get any more worthless.

Atleast you could have posted on general section, unless you directly want to rub dirt on ATI fans faces? We could act mature you know, its not like these things have not happened before.

Errr these are benchmarks what else do you expect but for Nvidia to win. They always win the benchmarks but ATI cards always seem to have beter real world play then the benchmarks would predict.
Overclocking did not come into play or any driver tweaks. Buy what you want but no need to be a hater not offence but why does nvidia get away with selling a card with no driver and ATI gets slamed? To many axes to grind.

[H]'s reviews are based on actual gameplay experience, unlike other sites. Get your facts straight.
The AMD Radeon HD 2900XT is a disappointment right now. Maybe drivers, will help. We'll see.

Well I just bought a passively cooled 7950GT over an 8600GTS and HD2600XT. Everyone I ask says that the 7950GT trumps the 8600GTS and I can't wait any longer for the HD2600XT.

wow everyone calm down.

mods delete this thread, I dont wanna cause people to get mad and stuff.

[H]s real review is made with actual gameplay experience, and historically speaking nVidia haven't always won benches so I fail to see you point...

Fact is that ATIs new offering is currently getting slammed by a 6 months old second tier offering, the 8800GTS@640MB. I'm sure that ATIs performance will improve once their drivers mature but I think that we can all agree that for being 6 months late to the show we are allowed to expect more from them...

naw...going to buy a pair because I read a few more reviews than hards and I mad my decision to build the uber machine so I am sticking with ATI. Also this is a asshole of a thread. and it says that ATI cards are pure shit.

You shoulda bought the 8800GTS 320..or something.

All bow down. Not. Yes gme play testing is valuable no question. It is frought with opportunity's for unintentional testing drift. There are other sites that do the same thing with better statistical method. Even a flawed report is valuable but no one report is the be all and end all- that is a religion.

Sorry but there wasnt much question how the review would come out here should have ben obvious for a long time to any independent observer.

Just about to hit checkout on an eVGA 640 GTS, drivers still wont improve the temps from the high power consumption and the awful noise... basing this purely on reviews.

Bought a GTX for $520 3 weeks and ago and didn't look back. Heck when I went to [H]'s main page today I saw the 2900 review and was like, "oh yeah, forgot today was the 14th". I've been having so much fun since this upgrade (past gpu was a 6800GT ) that I have completely neglected the R600 hype and after seeing the reviews, I'm glad I did. Its a great card, but not the "high-end" card I was expecting to see.

I'm not buying a dx10 card yet. If I were, I'd look at the X2900 as closely as a GTS.
If you need GTX performance, and can afford it, that's up to you. I don't think many people expected R600 to beat a GTX. The rumored $400 price kind of shot a hole in that theory. But if R600 is anything like R520, the next few months will show massive boosts in performance as the memory controller gets optimizations.

What did you expect was going to happen when you created this thread?
I'll toss out a guess that he didn't execute his Branch Prediction microcode. ;) But come on, it is pretty funny when the guy that started the club realized he'd just had an emotional, kneejerk reaction and tries to shut it down. :D

+1 on the knowing ATI would be stinking up the place club, circa 12/06 :D . Heck, I'd buy another GTS and go SLI just to celebrate if my MB did SLI :p

The 8800 series is just a great card right now. Keep enjoying our 8800 goodness. :D

+1

I was furious with AMD/ATI for continuously delaying R600, but I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt thinking the delays would allow them to overtake nVidia. FFS, wasted my time... I'm getting a 8800GTS 320 this week pronto.

I just now bought a 8800gts (evga) because of the heat issues alone. Come on ATI that shitty cooler didn't work with the last 3 cards you put under it....

add me to the list! picked up the EVGA 8800gts 640mb at ncix.com for $365 after mir. i'll be stepping up the top-o-the-line from EVGA b4 my 90 day step up period expires. i bought this after the 2900xt pissed all over itself. my wonderful 7950gx2 will go in my 2nd machine.

I bought my 8800 a few days after release for well over 600$ Canadian.

Geez, the things you'll do when your girlfriend pilfers your 7800GTX.

R600 is not fast enough to pull GTX prices down, so there's no reason to wait anymore. I'll be getting a GTX soon...
