new 8600 info.

@Neist
Can you please run the two fill-rate tests of 3DMark2001SE?
This numbers can maybe solve the big question mark about the hardware units of the 8600GTS-core(G84).:)

Sure. I'm at work but I will when I get home this afternoon/evening.

Can you run the two tests with the free version? I'm not sure I've even touched 2001 :p

yeah...249.99 + tax = 268.00

newegg ....evga 8800gts @ reference speeds + 287.00 after tax an shipping

i dont count rebates becuase they are BS...what will a $20 rebate buy????

im really debating....i dont think i have enough 12V current to run or the space for 8800gts 320...

the res used would be 1440x900

If your PSU can support it, go for the 8800GTS hands down if you want pure performance. Really the choice not to get the 8800GTS has to be non performance related, if any. I'm keeping mine mostly because it is slower (thereby, innately cooler and quieter). Plus I cant seem to make myself buy a double slot card. Such a waste of space. :p Guess I've been too much of a mATX monkey over the years.

Yes, you can:

A 20 dollar rebate will buy 20 dollars worth of goods and services. Money is crazy like that....

To Neist: I wasn't trying to shit on your decision to get an 8600. The other considerations besides pure horsepower are certainly good points. I had to decide recently between 8600 and 8800 and decided I could live with those issues in exchange for increased performance.

Oh I didnt take it like that. :)

I do think the 8600 has its place. It probably just has a place that most extreme gamers arent going to be at.

thx.

And now the facts:

8132MTex/s / 710MHz = 11.45 -> 12 TMUs

G8x-architecture has clusters, which contain 4 TMUs and 16 stream processors each.
The G80 has 8 of them -> 32TMUs/128SPs
And the 12 TMUs of the G84 mean that it has 3 clusters -> 48 stream processors.

So the 32 stream processors, which were reported by some sites, should be wrong.

Unless the TMU aren't directly tied to the stream processors. I am hoping for 48 stream processors though. That would be quite interesting.

Hmmm... Wish I could get an 8800GTS, but my Shuttle has only one PCI slot and one PCIe 16x slot. The 8800GTS would take up both slots. This 8600GTS doesn't look that great. I guess I'll keep my 7950GT CO Superclocked until eVGA releases a a 8600GTS with more than 256MB or a single slot 8800.

So much for your theory because its been confirmed that the 8600 has 32 pipelines. ;)

Yeah... I'm waiting for single slot cards and to see what ATI has to offer down the line. My 7800GTX OC 256MB should be able to hold me for a bit.

Chalk this one up to experience.

This one probably cost more than the broken PS2 after I was trying to install a mod-chip with very sub-par soldering skills, but I've moved on and bought a new PS2; you should move on and get a new job.

Our of curiosity, how did they find out your name/store number?

for disrespecting your boss and being Insubordinate.

He can't fire you for posting the specs and or talking about the cards he put out. Once he put the cards on the shelf the information becomes public knowledge.

Like printing news in a newspaper and then the truck throws the paper out in front of 7/11. Then you go onto a website and post "in todays paper did you read XXX".

That is what you did...they are probably conferring with legal services and HR to actually see what they can get you on...but I bet it wont be for the release of the information. If that is the case then he should be right behind you for putting the cards out too early...he basically did the same thing.

i'm pretty sure that unless you posted the info from cards that were in storage(unreleased or stuff not on display) you can't get in trouble for having an opinion =p

well thanx for in the input and its some stupid blanket rule that a corporation put in place with zero tolerance. if it was done by the store, the managers would not fire me. cause i am sorry and if i ever knew it would get blow out of proportion like this i never would have done it. lesson learned i guess. and y would i wanna work for a company like this anyways that treats there employee's like this. they brag and brag and brag about how great they treat us and i have seen other employee's fired unfairly and many not get fired for stuff they did do.

i dunno how they found my name and store number they just did prolly used google its not that hard to track a username back to a RL name. though i know store number was easy since i said where the video card was out and open. and then when i said my senior i just made it easier. and it was wrong of me to say that about my senior and i admit that and i am sorry. i thought i went back and corrected that the next day but i didn't so now i leave it there and just make an apology and not try and hide it.

You should sic the nVidia legal team on your supervisor and the management team... They did more wrong than you.

About the insubordinance, well... You had an opinion about the supervisor, you didn't directly contradict one of his/her orders... Hows that insubordinance?

This is why I often rip off Best Buy and do lots of other illegal shit to their stores. They're fucking losers, with shitty morals and shitty prices. But that is for neither here nor now.
