Dells, CableCards, and TimeWarner...oh my!

As usual Anandtechs editorializing is half-informed and retarded.

Mildly interesting info about the hassles of Cablecard installs. But with cable companies putting up such a fight about it is it really that unexpected?

God, I really wish Anandtech would just STFU sometimes. Their HTPC related articles are just embarrassing.

I think it proves the CableCard technology and ATI's attempts at creating an ocur device are going to cause a shit ton of headaches for the consumers as well as the corporations.

This should be very amusing when this gets more released.

this is exactly why i went with the hd dvr offered by my cable company. With all of the DRM restrictions and installation hassles, there is NO real benefit to getting a cablecard enabled pc.

ah yes, but it is for the simple fact that you can say you can! Why do i need that Porche GT2, i don't drive 200mph going to work. But hey, i could! (this comparison is not to infer that cablecard performs better than dvr)

Guess it's all about the bragging rights? Plus i think the DRM content on your computer hard drive will be more easily accessbile than the content saved on the dvr from your cable company. Cause you know that somebody will eventually crack it...and all we'll have to do is find it on the hard drive.
