I'm on an LG 20'' widescreen LCD with a VGA cable hooked up to my Xbox 360. What resolution is best to use. I have the choice of 1280x1024 with widescreen option enabled or I can just set to the resolution 1376x768 or something like that.

I would love to do the native 1680x1050 but I don't think it's supported.

I play Gears of War 90% of the time if this is of any help to know.

Thanks guys.

1376x768 since that is widescreen like your lcd and higher resolution.

or you could just see what looks best to you.

1360x768 is the highest widescreen res using VGA...that's what I use and it looks fine to me.

Wouldn't 1280x1024 be an overall larger resolution to use though? If you multiply it out it has more overall pixels by far.

well that's the highest that your monitor supports, you must mean...
Cuz mine does 1920x1200 or some nonsense in WS. I mean it actually shows up in the options when setting the display on the 360.

It's a bummer that I didn't go with a bigger screen that supported that resolution but what the hell did I know.. and I only paid $300 for this sucker..

1360x768 is ~720p. Use it. You won't notice a significant difference on a 20" from higher resolutions. and definately don't do a standard ratio! stretching ftlose

if you do 1280x1024 resolution and set the display type to widescreen, you get the best results. I have a 360 and had it hooked up like that to my 20.1" monitor and i messed with all the resolutions and 1280x1024 on widescreen mode looks the absolute BEST. no stretching or anything. despite what anyone else may tell you.

Oy, I think it's time to get a 1080p 32 - 37'' LCD =] Going to work all summer just to buy an LCD? hmmmm...

1280/1024 is the highest full screen rez and 1366/768 is the highest wide screen rez there is no support for 16:10 so it will look like ass on your monitor

The OP stated that he had a 20" ws...same as me.

If I were you id get a nice 30-32 inch 720p LCD tv and use it as a monitor.

Try a few options, and see what looks best. I'm willing to bet it'll be the 1376x768 one though. That's what I currently have my 360 set at. I'm hoping they add more support, for more resolutions, in a future update. It doesn't look like "ass" though.

Tell me, how is it possible to NOT have stretching when using a 4:3 resolution in widescreen mode? I just tried this and it was noticeably more blurry than using 1360x768.

Yes I agree that makes no sense snice the OP has a 20inch Widescreen LCD. The only thing is the different scalers built into the panels, but that really should not matter.

Regarding the stretching, it would be up to the monitor's internal scaler as to how sharp it ends up. Your monitor may not do as well of a job scaling as the other poster's monitor for example. I've read of other users setting to WS and finding 1280x1024 to be better looking on their 16:10 monitors. *shrug*

I found this too. Definately the sharpest.
