Hey,
Well im looking to buy a Notebook and i was trying to decide between the vaio ar 200 or the m1710 or the HP 9000 series. Does anybody know if this laptop could run BF2 ok?

I dont really want a gaming laptop and i would say i would like to spend ~$1800 on ebay for one . All i really want it to have is;
-17" Screen
-2gb of ram
-300+gb storage
-Good CPU
-Run BF2 fine
-and hopefully a number pad
-HDMI port

Any other laptops you guys suggest or input would be great!

My Asus A8Js has a t7200, Gforce 7700 go running wxga+.

My BF2142 video.con:
Code:
VideoSettings.setTerrainQuality 3
VideoSettings.setGeometryQuality 3
VideoSettings.setLightingQuality 2
VideoSettings.setDynamicLightingQuality 1
VideoSettings.setDynamicShadowsQuality 1
VideoSettings.setEffectsQuality 3
VideoSettings.setTextureQuality 2
VideoSettings.setTextureFilteringQuality 3
VideoSettings.setResolution 1152x864@60Hz
VideoSettings.setAntialiasing 2Samples
VideoSettings.setViewDistanceScale 1
VideoSettings.setVideoOptionScheme 3

This setup gives me 70ish FPS. (renderer.drawfps 1 shows a high of 99 with lows into the high-20's)

Don't go overboard with the settings (mine are medium to high in some aspects) but plays it as good or better than my desktop. My "desktop" machine is a AMD64 3400 with a 6800GT and I run the same settings, except my desktop plays @ 1280x1024. I get about the same experience. All in all, I am pleased with the 7700 for the moderate gaming experience.

EDIT:

You asked for BF2. I've updated my video.con to reflect what I play at.

edit #2: My shadows and dynamic lighting are set low because I don't want to see shadows where people might be hiding... :p

Thanks man i was just hoping that it could handle bf2 if i wanted to play it
