ok my hard drives are a mess, and i need help on how i should fix this..
ok i have had a dual boot setup for a while now and when i first installed vista didnt think id end up using it as my main os. now i do and am going to ditch x64 and install ubuntu as an additional os. but i want to put it on a much smaller partition.

vista is actually installed on hard drive 2, so thats where im confused on what exactly i need to do..

heres a screenshot of my partition setup, please give me your input.

Ubuntu will make it's own partition at the end of the drive. I think you can even say how much space you want Ubuntu to use when dual booting, but I'm not entirely sure on that.

You also have no screenshot to see what you are talking about ;)

Holy partitioning nightmare, Batman. If my drives looked like that, I'd back up my data, wipe all drives clean and start over.

I agree with this. The odds of successfully moving your Vista install and re-sizing your partitions are really slim with a mess like that. Just start over.

well i messed up and tried to format my drive with xp and messed up my boot so i couldnt boot into vista anymore.

so what i did was install vista again on the drive that had xp before so i could get into the os, now im trying to copy the boot partition and mbr from this hard drive onto the one with my old vista install on it. then i will connect that drive as my master and hopefully itll boot into my old vista and itll all be on the master hard drive, then i can reconnect the other one, wipe the new vista install and clean up the partitons and start fresh with that one. im 80% done but dont know it itll work
