I just noticed a new BIOS update for my Asus P5B Deluxe...
This is what it said in the changelog:
Description P5B Deluxe Release BIOS 1004
**Please update AsusUpdate to V7.09.02 or later prior making this update.**
**This BIOS does not support roll back to older BIOS**
1 Enhance memory compatibility
2 Support CONROE E0 CPU(FSB 1333)

Looks like it adds support for an upcoming stepping of Conroe processors which have a 1333 FSB...
Does that mean we don't need to buy new motherboards after all?
Not sure if this is officially supported by the Intel 965 chipset or not... I do know that it works... I've overclocked my E6600 to 1333 FSB before, and it was perfectly stable.

I noticed this too. Not surprising given that I've been running my P5B Deluxe at 1333 fsb ever sine I got it, but I think I'm sticking with my current BIOS for now until I hear more about this. I read somewhere that this new BIOS locks the memory to 667, but I haven't been able to find any confirmation of that. I'm running my memory at 833 right now, so obviously this BIOS would be a downgrade for me if that's true.

Well, I'm currently running my memory at 800 MHz with this bios... So it's not limited at 667... Perhaps it does this when using auto-settings, dunno... my memory is 667 anyway (I overclock it), so I can't check.

I did also see that other brands started updating the BIOS for their 965-based boards aswell, for 1333 FSB support... But I've not seen any official confirmation from Intel that this is supported.
Oh well, I don't need official support... if it works, it's good enough :)
I was planning to upgrade to a quadcore CPU in the near future... a 1333 FSB model would be even sweeter.

You all should run your memory at 1:1 anyways, it's faster.

You are soooo behind the times :p
These are rules that may have applied on Pentium 3 and early Pentium 4 systems... but this is Core2... Go read some articles on memory performance.
