So again, users are unable to log on. what total BS. I only have a few hours a day that I can game, and the system is down. All they say, They know about the issue and they'll tell us more in the next half hour. No real updates on the web. I pay for this service?

I have one word for you, addiction. I am sure that 8 million players can wait a day or two for server fixes.

These issues and problems are completely and totally unavoidable. You'll have to learn to live with it. As a hardcore EQ1 gamer for nearly 8 years now I find it funny how all these WoW players are now bashing Blizzard for the same issues they used to blast Sony for. An online MMO this large issues are impossible to avoid guys.

inflamitory posts for the lose:

We've attempted a restart of the authentication system which has not resolved the issue and our network and database administrators are now investigating further. We're working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible and apologize for the interruption in your normally scheduled play time. Another update will be provided in approximately 30 minutes.

I'm not an addict...I can quit whenever I want...anyone know a private server I can log into...I'm starting to get the shakes...

Let me add this please. I didn't mean to sound as though I am/was bashing WoW players at all, I am not. It's simply impossible for an MMO company to avoid becoming the company that is percieved to be ignoring and not communicating to its player base.

you do know they just released a major expansion, right? so maaaybe they are getting higher than optimal traffic?

I just quit before the expansion after over two years of playing, and all I can say is get used to it. At least before they gave us credit for when they had the servers down for long spans of time, but I doubt they'll do that kind of thing again. Oh, and once you are able to get in, you get to wait in line for your server (assuming you're on any server worth playing on, high pop. PvP ftw), on my old server Ner'zhul I've heard the lines are 300 - 500 people long, and its not even that popular of a server any more. I don't mean to sound like a jerk, but just know that if you're going to play WoW, get used to craptastic servers.

Words are just that, words. The only apology that is acceptable is money back for time the players payed for, but blizzard is unable to deliver.

Even when it is up, you have to wait in line to get in the game. lol

Screw WOW.
I tried logging on to play D2 yesterday. Complete lag fest which is unacceptable because D2 > WOW

Whoa.. You just made some sort of hint that WoW players have ACTUALLY experienced other MMORPGs before... I think your misinformed, thats why they like WoW.. They have no idea what they missed or are missing ;)

Since I installed BC on release day I haven't had a single problem logging in, installing or playing the game.

Yes you pay for it, but its not gonna be up 24/7/365. With the amount of players it has there is gonna be some downtime eventually. Play another game for the time being lol

Wait, you mean blizzard doesn't buy twice as many servers as they need under normal conditions just for those few occasions when server load is unusually high?

Would you rather pay more per month, every month, to support more servers, or deal with a couple days of server issues when they release a brand new product?

I could think of a much worser torture; Having your ISP go down for a day due to crapped out CMTS or DSLAM (depending if you are on cable or DSL). Some of you might think of that as a poor comparision, but the Internet does provide income for some users, while a game... doesn't quite do that.

I cant remember a time, when I was still playing WoW, that the servers were anything more then just acceptable. I can however remember many times when the game was unplayable due to the servers not being able to handle normal loads.

Omg I'm sorry I just had to quote this, so funny, I bet you can hear this line echo'ing through-out rehab centers across the country lol.. No offense though, I love BC too its mad fun ;)

I find this fascinating. I have never understood the appeal of the game, and watching people go through withdrawl over it is just really funny.

Whoah, you must be in a time machine, because it's only 10:20 pacific right now

bitching about tihs problem is like bitching about disney world being crowded during spring break.

Most people will tolerate 1 or 2 instances of service interruption from their cable and power companies each month, why is WoW any different? These are extremely complicated systems guys, give them a break.

Blizzard is making $10 million a month, and they know all too well, how much traffic to expect with this expansion, and they can't prepare for it correctly?

I just spent $40 on this game, and I can't play because their logon servers are running on a Windows 98 machine, with a 56k line, trying to authenticate 8 million people!!!!

Learn to use commas

...anyways, blizzard IS NOT making 10 million a month on this game. Vivendi Universal may be bringing that much in gross from WoW, but you have no idea what their expenses are to run it, market it, maintain it, and update it.

Oh, no you have to spend a few hours not on WoW. If you buy an MMO with 8,000,000 users and don't expect some unscheduled downtime, you need a reality check.

I'm a very casuel gamer, and I only spend like 4-8hrs a week on WoW. (learning to use commas).

But, when I spend money on a game that I can't play until they fix problems, ..then thats a problem.

Whats with all the WoW haters anyways? Go play some C.S.

yeah blizzard is terrible. WoW isn't even that fun, that's why when the servers go down no one ever says anything about it. they barely interface with their userbase at all. there are plenty of other games out there with 8 million active subscribers who have no downtime and much better customer relations. blizzard should really get their act together. i mean, what kind of company can't handle a mere 8 million people without hiccups?

seriously gents (and ladies). i pay as much as everyone else for the game and play an awful lot, but i understand how computers and networks work, for the most part. there are probably 1000 pieces of networking hardware between you and your realm server (including cables). give these guys a break! they are trying their damndest to continously provide the best live gaming experience around and I think they do an OK job. it's a fun game and it's not going away any time soon, so keep your pants on people - everything will be ok. in the meantime, how about calling your grandma or maybe making a sandwich or something.

You should, It is my opinion that over half of the people who play WoW are addicted. Get this, I put in over 110 days in 7 month.. if you do the math thats 110/270 now taken into the fact that I have a job roughly 1/3 is work, 1/3 is sleep and the other 1/3 is WoW. I would get home and play for at least 4-5 hours a day and basically 15hrs a day on the weekends. I bet that if I had a job that I could not quit I would have quit my job to play even more. I put in that much time for a video game.....

I just woke up on day and was like, wtf am I doing. I immediately deleted my 60's, all of my alts and uninstalled the game. If you can play the game casually then more power to you because the game is not bad at all. But if you expect me to focus over 1/3 of my life to purple pixels your insane. I mean you put 20% of your time in the game waiting probably more from waiting on Battlegrounds, to waiting on your Naxx run to start.

People lose there jobs, family, girlfriends/boyfriends, friends, etc over the game. People do it with all the MMO's but not anywhere near the scale of WoW and it is saddening.

I have heard of people with well over 300 days played since release and that is unimaginable to me as thats almost a year of your life totally dedicated to a game that in 6-7 years will be gone forever.

So in conclusion I bought a 360 and have not looked back since, I play roughly 1-2 hours a night and 3-4 hours on the weekend. Oh and I can get up and leave to go do stuff with my friends without worrying about if my 40 man AQ40 run is gonna down the final boss.

Imagine all the money you could have made had you sold those 60's on EBAY :p

The comedy is that apart from spending $40 for the game, everything you just said is wrong.

Man what is it about wow that brings out the itty bitty shitty committee of people who have never even played it, to talk about no life people while they spend their time trolling forums all day. Oh and btw, when you get something new, you want to play it then, withdrawl? You would feel the same way about anything new. Has nothing to do with anything else.

I got my expansion on the 17th, and have not had a single problem. They'll get you going. Hang in there.

Many of the realms and logon servers are actually made of 1500 Opteron servers purchased early last year.

Complaining about a service carries no weight unless there is actually the possibility that you will cancel the service over the issue.

Having played it or not has nothing to do with it. I love UT2004 and I can't play it right now because the current NVIDIA drivers are causing issues with it on some 8800GTX equipped systems. I miss playing it quite a bit but I am not bitching in forums about it.

What's funny and sad here is that WoW players act like crack addicts when ever they can't play the game for a day or two. I've rarely if ever read about people behaving this way over any other broken games. Combine that with the fact that the game is uninteresting to some of us and WoW addicts are even funnier.

It's a point of view thing.

TV shows have been comparing MMO addicts to drug (usually opiate or crack) addicts and note that both activities stimulate the same thing in the brain, so it probably is an addiciton  You can get addicted to anything

I had no problems authenticating my copy of BC. The issue I am having is that my server is full and takes nearly 20 minutes to join due to a waiting list. I don't want to change servers because all of my friends are there too and I've been there for the past few months.

Even though I have WoW and kind of enjoy it in small doses, I can't stand doing nothing but. A few of my friends no longer do anything but play WoW and it irritates the hell out of me! TBH, I'd rather be playing Titan Quest or Dungeon Siege (1 and 2) instead  It has taken me three months to actually get into the game too!
