Hi All,
I have posted numerous in the past and just recently...I am kinda confused...here it goes...

With my current MOBO the Asus A8V-Deluxe the overclocking absolutly horrible (in fact with this board it is not recommended at all for any kind of overclocking)
it is very stable when ran at stock speeds...If I buy an Opteron 185 (Dual Core 2.6 GHZ) and run it at stock speed in this board how much of a difference will I see from my current 3200+ Venice ???

As I said in my previous post I DON'T PLAY GAMES

I mainly use the machine for Photoshop,Digital Photography and ripping movies..and I really want to just speed it up cause these Apps run a little slow

My intention is to get to 2.6-2.8 and still maintain stablitiy...so should I just run the Opteron 185 at it's stock speed in the A8V or upgrade the board also ??

FYI: Opteron 185's are $350 shipped from Newegg and no need to "build" an entire new machine.....So what to do...Please help me decide !!!!

Thanks...shkj

get a 165 and a good board. It will "most likely" hit atleast the stock speed of the 185. Are you sure you cant overclock on that board though?

I agree with the member above.

With $350 you can buy a Opteron 165, thermaltake big typhoon
and a DFi LANParty motherboard (NF4), and overclock the opty 165
to around 2.6GHz.

And btw, for media oriented work dual cores significantly help.

I do some video editing and sound editing, and I couldn't imagine
using a single core for it after I've used my dual-core rig for it.

If you have to ask, then the answer would be NOT.
