I'm using Virtual Infrastructure Client to connect to my VMWare mgmt server. I have a Task that seems to be stuck. There is a machine Power On which didn't work and is not locked in Recent Tasks and I can't cancel it.

I was able to actually turn the VM on by connecting directly to the ESX server which hosts it, but I can't get rid of this task on my mgmt server.

Any ideas?

How did you connect to the ESX serer directly ?? By webinterface or by client ?

By client.

I have two ESX servers (clustered with HA and Load Balancing) and a management server; I just pointed the client at the ESX box and used root credentials.

hmmm... unfortunatly im not realy familiar with VM ware in larger installations (with cluster and load balancing)... could you try to connect to the server via the webinterface ? Maybe you can restart your vm from there...

I think I just need to bounce the VI server because I just tried to start another VM, and that's hanging too.

do you have access to the server console (hardware access) ?? you could try to login as root and perform a restart via "init 6"...

Welcome to the VI infrastructure client. Jesus, I loved 2.X and still have 20 or so hosts waiting to be migrated over to join the 15 or 30 VI3 hosts. A migration I am dreading unless they can release some updates to the current software.

Have you tried VMWare forums? By far the best VMWare resource available. They have been invaluable to me.
