Man, just downloaded this game and all I can say is WOW. This destroys the other five racers I have, and it is free, unbelievable. Anyone else play this game???

Warning: Install this and you have malware (known as Starforce from what it says here , a highly hated program on [H] if I am not mistaken.) It messes up your CD drive or something like that.

You should try out FlatOut 2, a whole lot better than this for sure.
 
yea i was playing this many months ago and then heard it had starforce. Couple months later my DVD drive starting dying a slow death. I'm not jumping to conclusions, but just to be safe i removed that game and the SF drivers and replaced my dvd. I really have no idea what starforce is doing in a downloadable, free, no cd-required game though...
 
I haven't found any starforce drivers installed....can anyone tell me where they might be hiding?

I can't verify that Starforce whacked my old drive either, but its a stunning coincidence. I removed it from my machine as My 100% stable build started crashing immediately and ceased after it was removed. I now use Alcohol 120% for my primary burning App, especially since its now Vista native. Sorry StarForce...you can not dictate what apps I use for my system. Given a choice, no sale for you. I'm just glad that X3 Reunion removed it because I was pissed I bought the DVD version and couldn't use it or return it. Now I am happy! But I certainly will not support any game that employs this company. And I do buy all my games, I am certainly no pirate. Some people claim they have no problems. That's cool. But it hasn't been my experience...
 
I played that game to death, definately the best free game I've ever downloaded. I think i was so addicted that I made it into the top 20 in the world, points whoring that is :)

Because its fair racing (no collisions) you can focus on your best lap time and not worry about idiots wrecking your fun. Plus you play against people from all over the world which is great.

I had it installed for around a year with no Starforce related problems.

I highly recommend it.

Welcome to the internet :D kidding.
I had a lot of Starforce games installed before, never noticed a problem, then again I rarely use my CD drive for anything other than to occasionaly install games. But certainly never had software problems after Starforce
 
I never had a system problem with Starforce, either, but I decided not to support it. I played TM:Nations for quite a while and it's a very fun game. Unfortunately with Starforce part of the package I decided to uninstall the game and remove Starforce. It's too bad, TM:Nations is pretty addicting and if you're a track maker this game will stretch your imagination.
 
I'd hate to ask a stupid question... but why does a free game even need Starforce?

BTW, I've also never had a problem with SF either. I figured a $40 DVD burner was worth all the fun I've had with ToCA 3...

No way is it a stupid question. The stupidity lies within the implementation of Starforce in a free, downloadable game.

I'm confused by the use of Starforce in a FREE DOWNLOADABLE game too, isn't Starforce a disk security application?
 
Man, I hate StarForce. But I may just have to deal with it. This game is the bomb. Wish StarForce would belly up and leave games alone...

Since we're on the topic of Starforce now, if you guys hadn 't seen this article its worth a chuckle: Basically a gaming magazine gave a new game a zero out of ten in its review simply because it had starforce copy protection on it. It made me chuckle :)

Yeah I'm definitely loving this game. I really ....really suck at it though....I hardly ever even finish a track when I'm racing online :(

Lol, that's about the way I am too. Was just in a 5 lap race and was lapped by the winner, twice. Some of these guys are so good, must be all they do all day...

i had it dl but i didnt get to play it. I cant seem to use my keyboard to even create acct. So yeah no TM: nations for me, but i still play it at lans on my clans boxes hehe.
