well, i've jumped on the bandwagon and have only run into one real problem...every time i reboot or cold boot, i have to power cycle my router in order to establish a network connection. is there a router setting that might be messing with vista? i'm using all the same hardware that i used with xp, which gave no problems in this area. the router is a vonage linksys RT31P2 which has no firmware updates available. any thoughts would be appreciated!

try turning off auto-negotiation and fixing it to whatever speed your equipment was designed for.

I'd update/try different versions of the NIC's driver. If you hardcode the speed/duplex make sure to remember that when you switch networks with different settings.

If he were to select 100mpbs with full duplex, he shouldnt have an issue unless by some misfortune he stumbles upon a 10mb or half-duplex network

But yes, updating drivers may resolve this for you... however.. if Vista didn't install the latest drivers automagically at install... I highly doubt your going to be able to find better ones elsewhere.

What build of Vista are you running? It may be a known issue and was fixed in a later build, that may be a good thing to look into.

I work for Microsoft, and internally we have access to 5824 which was built today, thats a significant number of builds post rc2 - fortunately RTM seems to be right around the corner which will give the rest of you guys a significant update.
