I was all ready to push the button to buy the DS3 when I went back into
the forums to check ram data. I came across several threads where people say
that the northbridge runs very hot (too hot) on the DS3 when overclocking.
I plan on running an E6400 overclocked.
I found the two NB coolers (swiftech and thermaltake) on the Egg and was
ready to buy the Swiftech when I looked at the mobo layout picture.
I don't see any way that a HS and fan is going to fit on the NB if I'm running
a double slot video card.
This sucks! It took me a long time to decide on the DS3 and I hate to go with
my second choice (PB5 deluxe), but I don't see much choice.
I see my options as:
1. I send back the video card and get a 1900xt with a zalman VF7500 (I think that will fit)
2. I get the Asus P5B (I think it runs cooler anyway, so no need for additional cooler, even though it would fit if needed).
3. I'm over reacting and the NB heat problem is not something I need to worry about
and I need to get on with the joy of overclocking.
Any ideas?
