Hey,
I recently upgraded my comp to a Intel D975XBX motherboard. I know that it has a SigmaTel STAC9221 built in sound card. I'm thinkin about purchasing the X-Fi as a second card to use to for my 2.1 klipsch speakers and keeping the SigmaTel sound card for its optical out to my receiver. Is there any problems that I should expect or will it work without a hitch? Thanks.

You may run into problems trying to run onboard sound and a seperate sound card.. they usually don't mesh too well.

You could always try an auzentech sound card with optictal out and stereo for your 2.1

you wont run into any problems other than the fact that unless your application natively suppports it, you can't run 2 audio devices at the same time. so you'll have to go to your audio properties and enable one or the other as your primary output device depending on what you're doing.

Foobar FTW.

Thanks for the reply...so basically as long as I remember to set each program individually...I shouldn't run into any problems?
