Hi,

I'm about to start the stepup program (have 9 days left), and I'd like to see how large the queues are for the top end cards (i already have a 7900GTX, so 7950GX2 is the on that most interests me). So can anyone tell me what # they are in any queue, and how long ago they applied for the stepup. I'm hoping to stepup to the 7950GX2, then swap to the 8800GTX when it comes out, so the bigger the queue the better my chances! (does this "trick" still work?)

took me about 8 days to go from #10 to hearing from evga to step up from my 7900 ko gt 512 to a 7950X2

does anyone else have any experience with the stepup process? how long were you in the queue in total? etc

I thought you were only allowed to use it once though ?

I think (correct me if I'm wrong) he's hoping the queue would be long enough that he could change the card he was stepping up to before it was actually his turn so that he could get a better card than he first reserved for.

Make sense?

Depends on demand. It was going to take over 2 months to go from about 120 to 0.

I cancelled cuz I was going to get major customs charges for the new card (like, 75$, even though I was trading cards).

yes I'm hoping that the queue will be long enough - I need to be in the queue for a month and half according to the new mid-november release date. I'm really interested in people who are in a queue at this very moment - what card they're going for, what queue# and how long they've been there.

Thanks again guys :D

when did you apply for stepup? how long ago?

Three days ago. I only had about ten days left. It seems as though EVGA has something against me...

Although, to tell the truth, I'm kinda glad I droppped a slot. If I keep dropping, maybe I will be in line for a G80. :D

Or not... *sigh*

step up works in canada too :D ? im thinkin about a 7900GTO

Good news and bad news: Step-up apparently works in Canada...and the 7900GTO is not going to be available for step-up. (At least not any time soon...).

You could probably assume that. EVGA doesn't seem to like to put their "lastest and greatest" into the step-up until a bit of time has gone by. Sound marketing practice...but depressing for users like us.

But, I don't work for EVGA, so take everything I say with a grain of salt. They may surprise us...

Hmm.. I bought a 7900GT in late august and was hoping to be able to step up to a 8800GTX.. Think I'm going to be able to?

well you have a better chance than me, my stepup runs out in 6 days :(

I might stepup to the 7950GX2 (if I can't get the 8800GTX ofc), then sell it (without using it, so as new) and use a crappy card until the 8800GTX comes out

decisions!

for the hassle thats worth maybe u should just hang onto what u got until a cheaper/better G80 comes out....its not like DX10 is going to take hold right away.

but then look who's talking....trying to see my 7900GT for something better....

I ordered the GTO yesterday - which should give me good options for StepUp. I think that puts me at January (after nv and ati announce DX10 parts), plus whatever lead time for the actual trade.

Does anyone know how long it took eVGA to put the top cards (like GX2) out as options for stepup?

Yea.. I want a GTO, but I dont have any money and I dont want to go through the hassle of selling this card. Also, I'm not necessarily worried about upgrading to DX10 ASAP, as much as I'd like a higher RAM amount on my vid card.. I just got my 20" LCD, and 256mb of RAM doesnt do too well at the high resolutions I'm running. Especially in games.
