Everest Temperatures

Hi,

I'm using the trial version of the latest EVEREST ultimate edition program, and am seeing some rather strange temps... wondered what you lot made of them!

(idle temps)

I think that the Core#2 temp is the most realistic, and likely that the #1 temp is just plain wrong :x . I'm running the Swifttech h20 apex ultra kit with a vga waterblock as well (dual rad, apogee etc), this is with an AM2 X2 3800 and the case fully open.

What do you think?

I use Everest along with Core Temp and the temperatures for both cores are pretty much the same for both programs, so I think they're using the same on die sensor. That does looka little strange with so much difference between cores however...my [email protected] usually idles @28c core 1 and 29c core 2 with a SI-128/89cfm Aerocool 120mm. I like Everest better because it gives me individual gpu temps for my SLI.

edit- just checked my overall temp and it's 33c...you should be doing just as well or better on water.

hmmm so maybe 29C is correct? I reseated my heatsink to make sure there was an even spread but it seemed to have made no difference... one of them is in the wrong place/reporting incorrectly as this difference is not possible (afaik)!

Anyone else got any thoughts? 29C vs 37C, both cores idle, open case, watercooled... which is most likely? The thermal paste might be a little thick - could this explain things?

edit:

this is under full load, prime 95 on one core, that realtime HDR thing on the other:

On water the 29c sounds far more likely...maybe there is a bad on-die sensor?

Under full load your cpu shouldn't be running at 51c under water...

Try reseating it, thick thermal paste = the devil.
