iSight "grainy"....

I always thought my iSight looked a little "grainey". I am sure it is now after playing with a macbook in the apple store ans seeing its isgiht wa crystal clear. I have my external iSight hooked to my powerbookg4, whys its quality suck?
 
Has it always been "grainy" or has it just been like that recently? If it's always been like that and it's still under warranty you should probably see if Apple would replace it.
 
more light! It's probably turning up the gain to increase exposure which results in more noise
 
it was the light, i got a lamp and put it on my desk and it was 100% better. damn apartment with no ceiling lights!
