Why is it about $100+ to buy it?

I though it was old and worthless now.

After I found a thread on CPL, I found out because it's no longer made, the pros are used to it, and want new ones, so what is left is priced high.

QFT.....that pretty much sums it up. I got one for $15 on ebay before they became the MUST HAVE mouse.

It's considered to be one of the greatest mice of all time.
I've been using my Intellimouse Optical for about 3 years now and its still going strong. I'm not sure if it's a 1.1 though. Every time I'm at Circuit City or Best Buy, I try the different mice esp. the Logitech ones and can never convince myself to spend $50+ on them. They never seem that comfortable. I lightly hold my mouse between my thumb and ring and pinky fingers and move it with the heel of my palm on the desk instead of resting my whole palm/hand on the mouse like some people. I guess that's why my mouse and Ratpadz GS (also 3 years old) never wear out. i don't put a lot of pressure on them. I also like having a button on each side of the mouse rather than two on the left side so that I can more efficiently and easily use them while gaming/web browsing. Rocking my thumb back and forth in games/web browsing would make it sore.

Here is a picture of the 1.1 SE:

This is the 1.1 edition that will go for over $100+ because of the great mouse texture, amazing tracking and awesome feel. They're very rare and if you have one, you're so lucky...

The 1.1a is still avail. from most online retail stores for about $20.

I've been using the 1.1a for... 6 or so years now (I think I got it for my 18th birthday, and I turned 24 last month), and when I used the 1.1SE, I really couldn't tell the difference. I've used well over 100 different mice over the years, and much like Sobek said, I just can't find one that feels nearly as comfortable for normal use, let alone gaming with. The weight and shell design are absolutely perfect imho.

Too bad using one doesn't make me any better at CS! :D

Intellimouse Explorer 1.1 is also a damn good mouse. Some people think it's big, but i've had two and they were the best fucking mice for my short stubby digits.

The Logitech MX518 i'm using now is pretty good though..

i am very fortunate to be blessed with two optical intellimice, i have the 5 button that i currently use, and i still have the 3 button that i used a few years ago.

i won a fatal1ty mouse from newegg a couple of months ago, needless to say, it started giving me crap after only 4 months of use :p , i switched back to my intellimouse instantly
