Video Card with DX10?

Not anytime soon. Next parts out from both ATI and Nvidia are rumored to be DX9 only. Say early-mid 2007?

Hey, I'm just sayin' what I heard/read. Some people said it's taped out, some people said its fully compliant with DX10. Give me a solid press release by Nvidia and I'll know for sure.

However, if indications of a release schedule is slated to the fall of 2006, then being taped out is not a impossible occurence. We need a few months after taping out to build a inventory and send chips to manufacturers for their own inventory building.
 
The answer is......

Both ATI and nVIDIA will be provided more than sufficient time to have a succesfull hard launch. The reason is, there is no significant marketable reason to release the cards right at this moment. Since DirectX 10 will not be useful until Vista ships, why not coordinate shipment of cards to cooincide?

In addition, releasing a new card now would impact the sales/pricing of the existing models. Why not squeeze those markets longer, especially when it benefits all of the IHV (independant hardware vendors)?

Perhaps there's a partial reason to release in fall for the Christmas shopping season, but again, why not sell the older gen and then "tada, along with Vista, you need this new card". After all, all computer shipments this fall and for the holiday season will be..... Windows XP.
 
I think there should be a sticky titled, "DON'T ASK WHEN DX10 CARDS ARE COMING OUT!"

Then, when we know a date, just change the thread title of the sticky to: "DX10 CARDS WILL BE OUT ON XX/XX/XX ATI AND XX/XX/XX NVIDIA!"

That would solve the problem, I think--now where do I send the suggestion--or someone else do it who knows where it should go :p
 
Rumour has it, DX10 will be DX7 with just HDR added, all DX8 and 9 features will be removed, minus HDR, so we can all roll back to Voodoo 5 5500s, or for the richer, Voodoo 5 6000.

I'll have my SLI setup going, Voodoo 2 is awesome for Unreal Tournament.
 
Again since you guys can't adhere to the topic and provide constructive information, this is getting locked.
