VGA to DVI

i just got the dell 2407 and it works if i use the VGA cable it works but if i use DVI i get no signal.....anyone have any idea?
 
You have switched it over to DVI through the monitor's menu, correct? I don't want to sound condescending, but you do have to push a button on the monitor to switch it between the different inputs (DVI, VGA, etc.).
 
yea i chagned the input on the monitor....are there other settings that i have to change as well?

As far as I know, no. Hmm, wonder what could be the problem. I'm assuming you checked to make sure the connection is secure on both ends? Are you using the DVI cable that came with the monitor? If not, perhaps you're using one that is DVI-I/DVI-D (whatever is the opposite of the one it uses).

Do you happen to have it hooked up to the same computer using both VGA and DVI at the same time perhaps?
 
I only have one connected at a time...its just odd how i can use a DVI to VGA adapter from the computer and itll work but straight DVI to DVI wont work....i am using the cables that came with the monitor!
 
Well, are you sure you're using the right DVI? Your sig looks like you have SLI. Only one of the DVIs will be active (though I'd think it would be the same one you were using via the adapter). Have you tried them both?

Definitely odd.
 
well i have a dvi to vga adapter conencted right now and it works...co it cant be the connection on the graphics card but i quess it could be the cable but i dont have an extra one to try....ill have to go get one
