Dell 1907FP or Dell 2007FPW

Okay, I have narrowed it down to the Dell UltraSharp 2007FPW or the Dell Ultrasharp 1907FP. I do a lot of gaming and internet/word/email, but mainly gaming. I like widescreen but is it worth the extra cash for a screen that is a little wider. I like the inputs on the 2007 but do not know if it is worth the extra money. The 16ms responce time has me a little worried as well as the banding issues with the 2007. The 1907 gets good reviews and has 8ms responce time. Thanks for your help.

I have a 2005FPW, and after seeing it, I would never go back to a non-widescreen monitor. I hear the 2007 banding issue has been fixed, so my vote goes to the 2007FPW.

I had ordered a system w/ the 2007FPW but that was when all the talk about the banding issue started to become more common. I ended up not opening it and fleabay'd the 2007FPW and ordered the 1907FP. I really like the 1907 but the word now is that Dell is going to take care of the banding issue even if it is past their 14 day (or is it 21 day?) policy. I kind of wish I didn't sell it now but at the same time, I saved $150 so I can't kick myself for that decision. I don't game though, mainly internet/email/graphics/photoshop. Maybe in a few years I'll pick up a 24"+ LCD but right now, I'm happy with the 1907. By the way, I got it for $210 + or - a few dollars. I had thought about getting dual 1907's but with the talk of 3 different panels on it (I have the Samsung), I didn't want to take the chance of it not matching accurately. Hope that helps.

as far as I know they're still shipping ones with the banding
I havn't recieved my replacement fixed monitor yet

I wouldn't wait on dell. I just ordered a 1907fp for my wife's second display. At that price, the quality is all there.

Buying a 2007fpw is a major gamble right now; with the odds stacked against you getting one with the banding fixed.

Thanks for the help. I would be buying through costco so the 2007 is 400 and the 1907 is 260. I am leaning to the 2007 but am still worried about the banding. I will probably order in the middle of june. thanks again.

isnt dell releasing a firmware update to fix the banding issue on the 2007?

They have produced a fix, but it only works in desktop mode. So it's really not a fix.

i haven't seen anyone actually getting their faulty 2007wfp/fp fixed.

Well, the issue is a feature, not a bug, according to Dell. So it is a matter of in effective or not rather than been fixed or not.
