Well, it seems that the people who only attended and saw the Sony press conference have been shortchanged...

The full, 15-minute (!) trailer of MGS4 was shown in the Konami press conference, and from what I've read: it's awesome.

It seems to be confirmed that the footage in the trailers are indeed real-time. :D

The official Kojima Productions E3 website is:
http://www.konami.jp/kojima_pro/e3_2006/
THE FULL TRAILER IS NOW UP FOR YOUR VIEWING PLEASURE

But anyway, who else is hyped about MGS4? I'm glad Meryl is alive, because they left her hangin after MGS1 (no hints as to whether she survived or not...), and Raiden seems to be a total bad-ass in this one. Hmm.

Unofficial transcript of the trailer, thanks to Gamespot:

Oh hell, it's the real MGS4 trailer, the one they "really wanted us to see." Stay tuned!

Col. Campbell is talking about the Manhattan incident of MGS2. The United States has imported too much military technology and is now paying the price. This is the voiceover from last week's Kojima podcast. Chilling talk of Outer Heaven.

Now it's the excerpt from yesterday's Sony conference. If you haven't watched it yet, DO SO. Okay, no, there's more to this. Campbell talks of a man trying to create the world envisioned by Big Boss. But who? Footage of one of those bio-mech Metal Gears rampaging through a city street. Old Snake in a cemetary, saluting a grave. Shades of Big Boss. Voiceover, talk of nanomachine-controlled soldiers who can't point their guns at "clients." Otacon lands in the graveyard in a chopper, brings Snake on board to meet a client, Roy Campbell. Says "we've found him" in the Middle East. These cutscenes look utterly incredible. They must be real-time, because the frame rate is not consistent.

"Liquid has made his move." But which Liquid?

Naomi telling Snake a regular man would have dropped dead by now. Snake has six months to live. Another bio-Metal Gear, fighting Snake. These are basically the best real-time graphics I've ever seen. Rivals most CG. I am such a !!!!!!.

Two Metal Gears now, searching for Snake inside a cardboard box. Nope, fooled. These things can leap a hundred feet in the air. Snake was hiding with chameleon-style suit camouflage! This is great.

An extended reveal of all the characters teased at Sony yesterday. Otacon saying "he" can't be stopped. Naomi talking about not passing on sins to our children. Campbell, talking again about "him." Who is he? Ooh, Meryl did not just drop the La-Li-Lu-Le-Lo. Otacon is crying, beseeching Snake to "end it." End this whole mess, I think, not his life. Ocelot condemning Snake for "killing his own flesh and blood." Snake again ruminating over his pistol. Chambering a single round. "One last punishment I must endure." Gun in his mouth. I can't watch this.

That's where yesterday's trailer left off. "Some bloodlines must come to an end." Is there going to be more?!

You bet your sweet derriere. Notice I didn't mention Raiden this time? Well, here he is, and since when did he become the utter badass of the world? He just decimated three of those bio-Metal Gears with a katana, a dagger and the most wicked moves this side of The Matrix. Ends with the shot of him from yesterday. Massive applause to this trailer. I'm sorta in shock. This looks SO GOOD.

Been realtime since day one...

As for the game, Im stoked! I can't wait... I just know Kojima is messing with us...

This game is officially the only reason as of this moment that I will buy a PS3...and that's a BIG deal. I follow the MGS series religiously, so, by default, any console with that series on it just has to be had by me. :D

lol, "Splinter Cell what's that?" :p I love Splinter Cell as well, but it's really the epic story and interesting tidbits that keep me enthralled in MGS. They story of MGS is something that I NEED to see continued and completed. That and Resident Evil. Splinter Celll doesn't really have a huge story or anything. It's kinda just like "one terrorist situation needs to be dealt with......and then the next" You know, that kind if thing. BUT to be on topic...yeah, MGS! :p

I can't wait for this game. This series is the savior of modern games in my opinion.

It's everything that gaming should be.

Splinter cell and Mgs are entirely different and don't try to be like each other thats a good thing and both games are good.

Holy crap. This new trailer looks FAR better than the old one. Fucking SEXY.

That website is really slow, and not only that the retards made it in flash so it has to go loading every single damn time. Bastards.

Hideo Kojima Is the closest thing we have to a modern day messiah.

The games his studio produce are always innovative and so deeply immersive.

The number one reason to purchase a PS3 would be MGS4.

The full, 15 minute trailer (actually clocks in at 14:56) is up and it is AMAZING.

SOOOOOO much better than the one shown at the Sony Press Conference. The one at the Press Conference was just a bunch of clips cut and pasted together into a short trailer... this one's obviously the real deal, and it is incredible.

It's all real-time (check the inconsistent framerates), and it's really just amazing... go see it for yourself:

I demand a mirror! Damn having a crappy connection that can't stream for shit.

Awesome. Check out the MGS: Portable Ops trailer as well. The recruiting element and multiplayer gameplay look really interesting. The fact that it's also the first action MGS title for the PSP also gives it bonus points :D

ditto.

NICE!

Ever since MGS for the Playstation came out, I've been a hardcore Metal Gear fan. I used to play the NES version quite a bit as a kid.

Now I just need to finish MG:S and SoL :(

You know, although Metal Gear was my favorite game as a child (next to Super Mario Bros.), I never actually beat it.

I remember getting up to Metal Gear in it, but that's about it. I still have the cartridge, but my NES no longer works so I can't boot it up. :(

But anyway... I need to get Subsistence to make my collection complete (I have MG, MGS, SoL, Substance, & Snake Eater). :D
...and then... Guns of the Patriots.

I can't believe how good that was. How does Kojima keep outdoing himself with these games? Absolutely amazing.

I have to say. The only games on PS2 that I REALLY liked were the Metal Gear games, and I definitely thought they were worth buying the system for. THIS, looks to be on the same caliber as those. I'll buy a PS3...but only when this game is available.
