That city looks massive.
Too bad you can't explore the whole thing.

In the 3rd shot, why does that massive divided highway end abruptly at the side of a building? Also, is this game in black and white? (or should I say brown and white)

lol - There are several roads/highways that end in buildings and magically disappear...

Maybe that's one of your missions! Find out where the roads were taken to?

VIP 1 is a 2-lane and VIP 2 is a 4-lane! Ah hah!

Brown and white, rofl :D

No, that's just how the colors are..all washed out and bleached. It's pretty annoying, but whatever.

No AA? No thanks. I wont be getting this game, based on the fact that you cannot have AA in the game. Its 2006, no excuse for this.

Is this the pc version you all are talking about? I thought it doesn't come out until may 9th?

ebgames, got it today. It was supposed to come out yesterday but I haven't seen any copies anywhere.

I got hooked up as I've got a couple of friends who work there. :p

Seriously.....gameplay is the focus here, gameplay! ;)

Love the Co-op mode, finally a game with a pretty serious co-op mode.

Depending on which one you're talking about, it could be a firestation. So when time comes for a fire on the other side of town, they don't have to worry about obstructions.

Bah humbug. Downloaded the demo and it's barely crawling @ 800x600 with all the lowest settings on my laptop 6800 Go. Knew I should've got the upgrade.

So is this more demanding than Oblivion? I was thinking of trying it.

Another one joins the GAGRAW club.... Gamers Against GRAW club. :D

I got the game yesterday in the FedEx from Ubisoft.

I agree its amazing, but a huge graphic hog. My SLI set-up crawls sometimes. I caught myself looking at the scenery and got wacked by the banditos a couple of times.

In my very humble opinion its better than the 360 version by alot, and that version is excellent. The levels Ive played are very different from the 360.

It has one downside......no in game AA???? But I think if you enabled it via the performance panel it would seriously kill your frame rate.

I'd like AA even in it's craptacular performance state. Runs fine on Crossfire. I just need a little. 2xAA would no doubt still be at worst 10% off fps and that's being generous. Bring it. I really hope they get it patched.

For once I've decided to wait on games a bit. See if they fix these messes and gogamer likes to throw up a popular game a month or so after release. Buying tomb raider for like $27 today. I guess it's a good thing since this rig ate my wallet.

And if you want to admit it or not, graphics do count. No they are not the only thing that matters, but they do matter. If the game was really good, I would forgive it more. But I dont think the game is that good. Its so much more dumbed down than the first, Ive lost more of my interest.

Not having the ability to do AA in this day and age, seems just flat out silly to me. As you can see, I am far from the only one upset about not having AA in the game. I mean, why would you not want AA as an option? The game is fairly demanding, and people are having to drop their res to get better frames. And do not have the option of AA to clean it up. I run it very well at 1920x1200, everything in-game set to max, and in the drivers. But I would love 2xAA to clean up the jaggies.

Isn't the reason there's no AA because of the HDR lighting?

No, its defered lighting, although its fairly close. And there will be no AA patched into it. Although "Chuck" from ATi is working on it. He says it seems very unlikely.

Any comments on the AA-issue?
Ok, I'm not going to turn this into a Q&A thread, but I'll comment on this one thing, since so many are whining about it.

AA and deferred lighting (which is used in GRAW) are not compatible. It's a limitation of PC hardware, not the game.

Cons of Deferred Shading
Can be bandwidth/memory intensive On some platforms, attributes must be written once, and read back many times. Multiple attribute buffers at high framebuffer resolutions gobble memory Very high hardware requirements Especially at typical PC game resolutions, or with FSAA

ugg this game plain stinks, there is no "gameplay" to speak of, basicly you walk thru town shooting at static targets that never move, or if they do they have a set path, bah humbug i say.. i played coop and after playing for 5 mins we can effectivly walk down the center of the street pistols out and pop everyone we see with it in the head... and walk thru the level wow what UBER game play  .. man i have wasted money before but this tops it.

Dont even get me started on the ghost team AI, running around getting shot dead because they are so stupid they cant go around a tree but run into it untill they slide by.. or die omg....

Also the colors we have every shade of brown.. i thought the use of one color in game went out with like Quake... what happen to red or blue or green for god sake.

its just stupid stupid stupid game.. i hoped co-op would help out but nope nadda..It jsut replaces the Retard team AI with more human super soldiers like yourself highlighting the retarded AI even more... lets hope death match or whatever other mode there is helps...

No AA ever huh? That's sucks. Wonder why they picked something that AA can't work with and seems to eat rigs alive when there are plenty of alternatives. Oh well, I think I might enjoy the game enough to buy it once it hit's the "Madness" list.

Dont act like you've played it, your first post stated you would not be getting this game now because it doesnt have AA, face it your a graphics whore.

WTF, why they hell did they not include AA. This game looks like shit without AA.

this game was supposed to look good, so graphic whores unite and bash,
whats the point of making a game with great lighting, up to date shader support, great textures and so on, if its not gunna support anti aliasing, it looks like crap, and i couldnt play it because it was so ugly.
sorry to be so blunt, but 45 mins into this game and i was done, like i was ready to leave it burning on my neighbors doorstep and let old man paterson finish the job with his size 9's.

Too bad your original response:
No AA ? I won't be getting this
1) doesn't include any mention of gameplay, and 2) indicates clearly that you haven't even played it.

So spare us the retreat and goal post moving.

So it sucks huh? I was hoping for better when they said it wouldn't be a straight port. Can anyone verify that there is no Starforce at least?

Do not assume too much. It only makes you look foolish. I still play a game from 1998 all the time, Tribes. It happens to be my favorite PC game of all time, and I still find it very fun. Which is so far down on the graphics scale compared to todays game, its pathetic. But the []gameplay[/i] is why I still play an 8 year old game still. Probably around 3-4 hours per week. If I was such a "graphics whore" as you claim, I wouldnt. As I stated, graphics do matter, no matter what any of you say.

I got the demo, and posted pics when it first came out. Not having AA is one of the several reason I will not be buying this game. First, its just not that great to me, and not worth the money. Its a dumbed down game compared to the first. The low res textures too do not look that good. As a whole, the graphics are not that great.

I have already posted my impressions in another thread, and my general dislike for the gameplay. No AA is just the nail in the coffin so to spread. As you can see, I am far from the only one upset with no AA. Not having AA in todays game, is not going to cut it, to me. So no I am not going to support this kind of game, not to mention I did not find it very fun, as its far from the game the first one was.

Read above to see you are wrong, and that I have played it. Try to not assume so much.

Dumbed Down? As far as I can tell it has very similar features but they removed the threat indicator, which was a very very lame feature of the original. Otherwise it requires a lot more teamwork to finish than GR1. In GR1, I could finish most missions with just one guy. In this one I have to use my team properly to bring fire on enemies from different directions.

Just got home and the Wife had GRAW sitting on my desk..Gonna install soon..The demo ran fine for me..1680x1050..I DON'T NEED NO STEENKIN AA...

Dropped $50 on this and it barely moves along with a 7800GTX, should have just gone with the XBOX version :(.

What graphical settings are you trying to play it on?

With the machine in my sig I get a steady 30fps which is deffiantely playable on medium settings 1280x1024.
