I am looking to buy a large plasma TV and was wondering if anybody here has any input on these displays. At the moment I am thinking about spening about $7,000.

I have only looked at these two tvs at newegg, because I'm not sure who I can trust when buying tvs online. There isn't much of a reason to buy locally, because no one in my area stocks these high end displays.

Both are great brands and often regarded as one of the best in the market. However, about the specs, i cannot tell since i never checked those ones.

I would buy the panasonic, it's much nicer than the 61" NEC glass. Or you could wait until the 1080p 65"er comes out and use the time to save some more money for it.

i would go to bestbuy, goodguys or like circuit city and look at them and see which one you like the best. Look at the viewing angles ask the guy if th tv will burn out fast etc.

Yes, i checked both and they are just native 720p. Wait for the 1080p for that amount of money.

Wait for the 1080p 65" Panasonic. For a display that big and that much money, you're going to want 1080p.

Id wait for the 1080p aswell considering they will be of a similar price and offer better picture quality especially with HD-DVD/Blueray source's.

If you are sitting at more than 12ft than you will not see any difference between 1080p and 720p....

maybe if you have 20/40 vision....

Anyone with decent eyes will be able to discern between ~900,000 and ~2,000,000 pixels on a 65" screen, even from 12 feet away.

You can't go wrong with pioneer either.
But there in lies the problem. It's an older NEC pdp that doesn't look all that great to me atleast. I have heard great things about the newer 5th gen 50" NEC pdp, but the general consensus seems to be that the 65" panasonic is the best in the 60"+ plasma category. Only the 43" and 50" models actually use pioneer glass. Kind of like how fujitsu uses panasonic glass in the 50" model and samsung glass in the 63" model.

Pioneer Elite Series.....you owe it to yourself to watch one of these plasmas in action..........

pioneer elite is consumer.

you'll save money and get a nicer picture if you get the business model and are willing to give up the inputs

My biggest concern is if Pioneer/Panasonic will warranty the TV if purchased through NewEgg.

you should think if pay almost 8 thousands dollars for a tv that do only 720p is good.

i think you should wait for 1080p tv or buy a lot cheaper one, until those with 1080p arrives.

the westinghouse 37 or 42 , both have 1080p and are really cheap

one of the best screens ive ever seen is the pioneer pdp-506xde...its only 50 inch but its better than any other plasma ive seen and it has won the heart of all reviewers...they do a 60inch variant too
