In light of the newly released R580 chipset Crossfire 3200 motherboards I decided it would be a good idea to get this post started for future prospects whom may want to purchase this board.

Lets get this started! Let everyone know about this thread and maybe we can narrow down the optimum build.

If you 've built a new system based on this board, please list your hardware specs and ANY problems you've encountered. I'm hoping in doing this we can head off any problems future builders may have with this board.

List in this order:

CURRENT BIOS: 0311

OPERATING SYSTEM: XP Pro SP2

PROBLEMS DURING BUILD: Posted first try, flashed to 0311 first try, installed Windows no problem.

Experiencing wierd issues durring OC'ing attempts. I have a 0550 UPMW stamped 170, while that's no garuntee, the system is acting extremely flakey. Posts at 230, then it doesn't, then it posts fine again, one core not prime stable. Then won't post at 220... Not ready to give up, as it's been a while since I've been on an AMD platform, and it's probibly some stupid setting in the bios (there are too many of them BTW :p ) that i've overlooked.

I will be trying a 3200+ Winchester on the board, and the processor in an older NF3 platform, to see if either of the items are holding me back.

SOLVED PROBLEM BY: Still plonking away.

CHANGED/REPLACED HARDWARE: N/A

CURRENT STATUS: Works great at stock! :p Still trying to crack the clocks up though.

HARDWARE:
MOBO: Asus A8R32-MVP Deluxe

SOUND CARD: Onboard
PSU: Antec 520w SLI
SHIPPED BIOS: Forget, I flashed it first thing
CURRENT BIOS: ver. 0311

OPERATING SYSTEM: Windows XP Pro with SP2 (32bit edition)

PROBLEMS DURING BUILD: Had issues with RAM going past 230HT. Have issues with long "hanging" during USB initialization at boot. USB keyboard support does not work in BIOS have to use PS2 while in BIOS. Clockgen doesn't work with PCI-E set to 100. Made my P4 2.4c @ 2.8 that is sitting next to it cry crocodile tears.

Also am having issues in games past 275HT. Windows and prime 95 runs stable and the machine never crashes but games will "hang" over time and force me to close them in Taskmanager but windows never misses a beat.

Can run the CPU/MoBo at 300+ prime stable but have to have the memory divided.

SOLVED PROBLEM BY: Solved RAM issues by changing async latency from 7ns to 8ns, and changing TRWT to 3. Without these settings RAM would not post at anything past 230HT. can look here for further info http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1032745

CHANGED/REPLACED HARDWARE: None, once I decide where the machine will be running will install the other X1800XT and the sound card.

CURRENT STATUS: Running 270HT Prime 95 stable on both cores. Temp with both cores loaded 48c with stock cooling+artic silver ceramique. Was playing Oblivion at 10x7 max graphics for 4 hours last night...while having both cores running prime 95 ...I actually forgot I was stress testing them. Did not notice ANY ingame slowdowns.

Very Happy with this build so far.

HARDWARE:
MOBO: A8R32-MVP (why have this, the thread is about this mobo?)
CPU: Opty 165
MEM: 2x1gig Ballistixs PC4000
HARD DISC(s): Raptor
VIDEO CARD: 2x X1900's
SOUND CARD: X-Fi
PSU: PC P&C 510 SLI
SHIPPED BIOS: 0311
CURRENT BIOS: 0311

OPERATING SYSTEM: x64 XP

PROBLEMS DURING BUILD: Wont detect my USB keyboard upon bootup. Perhaps because my USB keybaord is plugged into my 2405FPW, and thats plugged into the motherboard.

SOLVED PROBLEM BY: Not solved.

CHANGED/REPLACED HARDWARE: Have to use a old PS/2 kb to get into the BIOS.

CURRENT STATUS: Up and running.

HARDWARE:
MOBO: A8R32-MVP
CPU: AMD Opteron 146 (0604 UPMW)
MEM: OCZ 3700 Plats 2x512 (TCCD)
HARD DISC(s): 2x250G Seagate 7200.9
VIDEO CARD: BFG 7800GTX
SOUND CARD: Onboard
PSU: OCZ Powerstream 600
SHIPPED BIOS: ??
CURRENT BIOS: 311

OPERATING SYSTEM: Windows XP Professional SP2

PROBLEMS DURING BUILD: No luck running a 166 divider using above mentioned RAM or my Mushkin 2x1G CE-6. Had the Opty running 3.0Ghz on a Ultra-D but cant get more than 2.9Ghz on this board. I am sure it is memory issues, getting used to the way this board works is hard (for me anyways) Hoping it is a BIOS issue.

SOLVED PROBLEM BY: Lowering target OC untill new BIOS comes out...

CHANGED/REPLACED HARDWARE: TCCD to CE-6 and back, multiple times.

CURRENT STATUS: Sitting on a shelf, waiting (for more parts to arrive, and new BIOS)

Edit: I removed all heatsinks on this board as I always do to check contact and TIM, and on the ULI southbridge there was hardly any TIM (covered maybe 25%) and the HS had a huge bur on it that would cause it to make poor contact. Lapped it and re-applied AS Ceramique, but havent booted the board since.

PROBLEMS DURING BUILD: No driver disk for the SIL Raid controller

SOLVED PROBLEM BY: RTFM... booted the supplied asus cd and ran the driver disc creator, re ran the os set up and started installing xp64

CHANGED/REPLACED HARDWARE: nothing so far

CURRENT STATUS: updating windows net framwork with SP1, most likely will just install SP2, mainly im going through the motions with the 64 bit OS right now but the motherboard is nice and stable and I am happy.
