I have an 19" Veiwsonic VX910 at the moment and would like to upgrade to something larger and better if possible for under 600" I was looking at something in the 20-20.1" size and possible a wide screen. I want something that can game decent.. I dont play a lot but still play when I have the time. Thanks for any info.

well there is the dell 2007WFP, you can pm me early next week and i will test any game you want next week ( im going home for easter break.. and knowing shipping it will probably arrive the day after i leave)

I had a 2005FPW before, i liked it but i had to sit really close due to my old dorms desks sucking, but it did not ghost.. it was just too close to see everything.. obviously not a big problem.. and w/ the 7 series ive seen that they have a much smaller footprint, and they lower MUCH further than the previous ones ( old ones about 4 inches off of tabletop) new ones i would say 1.5 inches or so.

While many people say 16ms is bad for gaming, I tend to disagree, it depends on the TYPE of 16ms response, if its 8ms for grey to grey, then probably it would be a little ghosty.. but the 2007WFP is 6ms grey to grey, black to white is 16ms ( they like to flip their stats around a lot)....I'm currently on a 12ms dell 17" panel now ( replaced my 2005FPW while i waited to get a new model due to backlight bleeding)

Personally I would stick with dell or samsung, as they both have exceptional return policies.. as of 2002, samsung has a no dead pixel policy. and well dell is easy to return stuff to for any reason, and on these bigger monitors you will see advanced exchange ( they send you a new one before they get the old one back)

You have to ask yourself also what is most important to you, another price hike, or size,.. because I'm sure when the 2407WFPs come out the 2405FPW will be come down to ~600-650 range.. and ofcourse with some dell coupons you might even be able to get the 2407 aroudn 700-750..

**special note, when i say wfp and fpw this is not a mistake.. dell started naming them widescreen flat panels when the xxx7 series came out, previously it was flat panel, widescreen ratio.

Also consider the 20" wide Viewsonic 2025 at $400, and the Acer F-20 at $480 shipped.

Dell's have great feature sets, but in terms of picture quality there are other options that are just as good or better.

I bought the Gateway FPD2185W about two weeks ago and I'm still smiling everytime I see it.
It's just barely under your price range at $599 here
I don't know if it's the best but it sure is working well for me, no ghosting in games, DVD's looking good, plenty of inputs... I plugged a second computer into the VGA input and my main computer into the DVI-D input, downloaded a freeware program called Synergy and eliminated my KVM switch, still have the RGB composite connector ready for an XBox or something and the component if I want to plug in a camcorder or something and the S-video connector as well!

The Gateway's text looked fuzzy to me at Best Buy. Do you know if Best Buy even uses DVI connectors? It could have been VGA for all I know.

I ordered the Viewsonic VX2025 for 410$ shipped on new egg. Hopefully I made a good choice!

haha.. well from all the reading ive been doing this seems to be one of the better 20" widescreen monitors. I will find out soon enough!

yea..and what's that stand a lot of people are talking about to replace the one it comes with? That's the one thing I don't like.

Good price but I stay clear of refurbs. Had a bad experience with a refurb CRT long time ago.

Coupon is not valid. I think you posetd a one time use coupon. How much was it for?

awww it expired huh? It must have been used up. It def wasnt a one time use coupon. I ended up getting a refurb 2405 for 593.30 and 628$ with tax and shipping.

Yea..i wouldn't do refurbs..monitors are too important to take a chance with. Just my opinion though

Nice. Do refurbs have the same warranty?

nope 90day warranty but they still have the 21 day return policy that new ones have so if i get dead pixels or anything wrong with it then I can return it no questions asked. I also havent heard bad things about dell refurb monitors. Should be here mon or tues.

I ended up with two stuck pixels. Not real happy about it. Ive tried everything to return it in a legit manner. Im just going to live with it. I didnt realize a stuck pixel is not that easy to find and I really have to look to find the two on mine. Rubbing it and flashing video colors has done absolutely nothing. The only time I see it is with a solid black background which ive always tried to avoid anyways becuase of any backlight bleading that may show. Few years ill upgrade again!

that's why I'm getting a samsung 20B from BB so I can keep taking it back until I get a good one lol.

just curious as to which monitor you have stuck pixels on? I have a refurb dell 2405 fpw and i have 1 stuck pixel and its green and can only see in a black background. Was planning on returning it. I ran the flashing video and rubbed it and even ran the video all night and tried everything and nothing has worked.

its a Viewsonic VX2025wm. I have to admit its not that bad and I have to look for it and only on a solid black background. Overally the monitor is very nice. Just the fact I know there are two dead pixels is eating me up. Last LCD I purchase from newegg.. my own fault.

Would any place take back a monitor with 2 stuck pixels?

dell would. If it was in the corner of the screen I wouldnt mind but it would have to be literally the last pixel on the screen for me not to take it back, but it is around the middle of the screen so i might just return it and get another one.

Sure.. most local retail places ive used in the past. This is the first LCD purchase ive made online. My local mom and pop PC shop took back a buddies of mine for 3 dead pixels that were on the side of the monitor. Not easily seen. Next time I came in they had it up with thier other display monitors. This is why I will use them on my next purchase.
