can my VX2025wm support 1280x720? if so, how?

i sometimes connect my PC to my TV, and run it at 1280x720 when i'm playing games. for benchmarking purposes, i'd like to do the same while running thru my ViewSonic. when i look at my display properties, that resolution (in fact, ANY widescreen resolutions other than 1680x1050) is unavailable. when i check under Nvidia's display tool, it doesn't show that res even after i uncheck "hide unsupported resolutions" (or whatever it's called).

i see that Nvidia allows me to add custom resolutions, but then up pops the big "do this at your own risk" warning/agreement, and i chicken out.

can anyone confirm that this resolution will run fine on my monitor? how can i know for sure? and what tool or program should i use to achieve this res, if it's possible? thanks gang!

it doesn't come up under any of the games i tried (at least, not by default), and it doesn't show up under Windows or Nvidia's display tools. i can create a custom res. for it with Nvidia's stuff, but is it safe? i'm assuming if my monitor doesn't like it, it will just show "out of range" or something. does that sound right?

update: okay, i ran some further searches, and it seemed like my hunch was correct. i went ahead and just told Nvidia to add the resolutions that i wanted to try, and everything was fine, and scaled properly. then, once those resolutions were added to Windows, they showed up in all the games i tried too, so that was cool. everything worked out.
