CompUsa Midnight Madness Sale

Midnight madness my ass. More like midnight scam.

I went to CompUsa at about 6:15. They didn't have any linksys adapters save one PCMCIA card. Didn't ave any wireless routers, nor did they have the Seagate HDs. I asked the manager about these things and he said, "It was a national promotion and we don't have everything.." I responded with, "sounds suspect to me.." I started looking around and couldn't find the 15.4 LCD, the laser printer nor the TV tuner card. wtf? I left very pissed. Leaving work early to sit in traffic for the crap.
 
I ended up sitting in line for an hour and finding out that the TV tuner really fucked up my Windows installation. WOOpdeedoo. I got a free powerade because their checking/credit card systems were down, and I was instroduced to Bawl's mints. Mmmmm....Foamy...
 
snagged up one of the samsung printers...got there around 5:30, they werent closed, so people were already in there with carts full of the cheap pc's.
the sale was unimpressive, i would have bought more, buck F a bunch of 100 in mir for a hdd
 
me local store was well organized, each dept brought out their sale items in 10 minute increments. first was hard drive section, they handed out on sale hard drives to people waiting in line at 6pm (first come first served). then everybody run to camera section, employee hand out cameras and memory sticks to people in line at 6:10. then was the tv section 10 minutes after that etc. also was piles of the sale items. at least 50 boxes of 200G seagate, 50 USB 250gig drives, 25 hp cameras, 2 shelfs full of 'name brand' wireless G routers (looks like edimax router) etc. guess my store was lucky. employees were kinda curt with customers, anybody asking for help with an item was told to 'just walk around and find it', 'sorry i can't help you right now' or 'read the add carefully'. all employee bussy running around bringing the sale stuff out from the back.
 
I got the samsung laser printer and the $200 computer.

it was pretty organized at my compusa (oxnard, ca), they had 9 of the computers avail, and about 50 of the laser printers, didn't pay attention to anything else.

the laser printer is awesome, my shipping labels print out like BAM! herpes! and its pretty quiet. Really nice upgrade from my POS Epson 740. I only kept that printer so long because the ink was so cheap (10 packs bw/color from ebay for $20 shipped!) I'll still keep it around for doing color prints.

it looks like it has 2 paper trays too, I'm gonna try to set it up so my shipping labels are in 1 tray and normal paper is in the other :D

the $200 pc is now in my buddies hands, he's going to use it as a basis for a HTPC, should be perfect :cool:
 
is the samsung printer the ML-2010? i got it from staples for 50 bucks. its pretty sweet, but its loud as heck and whenever i turn it on, my ceiling light flickers :rolleyes:

yeah its that one.

I have it and my comp going through a APC smartUPS 1400 (huge!) and whenever it warms up the UPS trips and goes to battery for a second.

I think the printer sucks quite a bit of juice to warm up, lol
 
Interesting to hear about the sales that are well organized. On black friday we had riots and people sustaining all kinds of injuries.
 
I missed out on the lap tops, had to buy the 90 pack of printable CDRs for 10 bucks to make up for my disappointment.

yup thats the model and it scared the crap out of my cat the first time it powered up. but the damn things done printing before it even sounds warmed up
 
just went down and purchased one. Anybody know how good/bad they are?
And as usual i got the you need to by the extended warrenty for $150 routine.
Told them i did not want nore need it! $701.99 before $50 rebate
