AMAZING

I downloaded the fight night demo and it is unbelievable. Where are all of the critics getting their information from? Have they even seen the 360 in action? Anyone who says it only a little better than the original xbox simply doesn't have a clue, period. I can't decide wether 1080i or 720p looks better though, maybe its my eyes. This is just the beginning too, wait until games unlock the 360's power.

The dashboard is way better than I thought it would be too. I'm not trying to sound like a f a n b o y but last night is the first time I played with it a little and its amazing.

worth every penny, I love it.

Yeah but it also looks good on a SDTV. So people who have a SDTV souldnt feel obligated to get one just because of it. Some games it doesnt look like a huge difference. And yes I do have both and honestly think that the hdtv doesnt look ALOT better. But it is noticeable. On my HDTV I have it on 1080i, just so you know it crops the side of the tv. My tv doesnt support 720 otherwise I would have it on. So I recommend 720 because it doesnt crop the sides.

It's not the 1080i that is chopping off the edges. Your TV needs to be adjusted. Mine does that but the adjustment is in a very obscure service menu so I can't do it myself.

Well it doesnt have 1080i natively, its a 32 inch philips.

If the native is 720p set it for that. No reason to upconvert games to 1080i only to have the TV downconvert them again to 720p.

Still or slow-moving images=1080i. Fast-moving images=720p.

Of course, native resolution trumps all.

The tv only supports 480 and 1080.

I tired to find my tv's native but whenver I switch to cv inputs it comes up with cv 1080i on the upper right hand corner so I'm assuming I'm alright.

I wasn't to impressed with pg3 to be totally honest. NFSMW on my pc is better I think.

Madden looked good. I have to play some more demos tonight. I can't wait.

I forgot to ask, does the 360 automatically use the highest resolution that the lcd I'm using allows?

You can manually change the 360's resolution from 480p, 720p and 1080i in the video settings on the Dashboard.

Back on topic, I saw Fight Night Round 3 the other night on my friends 70" DLP and I about shit myself. I see almost no reason to continue putting money into my pc when a $400 console simply smokes the competition and can be played in HD on a big screen.

Unmatched.

Exactly. The game is truley jaw dropping. Don't get me wrong, I have cod2 bf2 css and nfsmw for my pc and i'm not going to stop playing them anytime soon but I don't think i'm going to build another gaming rig for another couple of years.

I'm making the move back to consoles. Its cheaper, better and much more fun. PCs day will return, but for me ? That probably won't be for another 3 years or so. Until then I am so glad that consoles have finally arrived back to kick some ass!

so far the funniest part is I still swing around my controller when I think the wire is going to get caught on my foot or the chair or the dogs are going to chew it then I realize there is no cord lol.

Used games baby! I'm buying madden for the re-playability so I can wait for places to build up a selection of used games.

For the most part, even the people with SDTVs have little to no image degradation that is obvious to the naked eye.

Some games, like Kameo and CoD2 don't seem to look as good on a regular TV, but Fight Night looks almost as good on a SDTV as it does and HDTV.

I think the biggest difference between SDTV and HDTV is simply that HDTVs tend to be larger in size and therefore easier to see what is going on the screen at any given time. I tried playing CoD2, and it just was not that great of an experience because it was on a small 27" screen and it was hard to tell where the enemy was unless I was right on top of them.

No wonder you don't think it's a big difference, you're using a POS HDTV.

HD really makes the jaggies show, big time. My pc can throw out 16xAA that blows the 360 out of the water (when using 1600x1200 ++), even on 5 year old games, let alone F.E.A.R. and whatever is due to be announced next.

Don't get me wrong; I am aware that the startup titles for the 360 are a waste of money, on account that they do not utilize the 360's hardware the way it should be done.As far as i am concerned, everyone should wait untill the real games come out... or even bettter, wait for the PS3.

I agree so far I have been more than pleased with the 360, and PDZ on live (Infection) with two people playing is so Great IMO.

Not for me is doesnt, also I doubt your 7800GTs can put up more than 4xAA in games like FEAR and the resolution. Well I dont doubt I know the power of those two cards and its not some 16xAA monster.
I can only take your post as a !!!!!! rant because of your last part.

People ragging on the 360s graphics normaly do because of the screens sony shows that are just videos. The only game showed on the PS3 thats real was MGS4 which can be done on the 360 as the creator said. The startup titles are based on Opinion, some people may think these are the best games and some think they are the worst. The arguement that the launch titles are horrible is weak because that is opinion. So I never know when someone is being genuine that they dislike the titles or if they simply wish to downplay the console.

Wow your 800$ videocard setup is capable of high resolutions with AA?? Holy crap, I'd hope so. Its amazing that the 400$ Xbox360 is capable of doing hd resolutions at all, let alone with tons of polys, HDR lighting and FSAA. I guess that makes the 360 kind of a bargin compared to a PC. I will never understand how PC people (of which I am one) keep comparing their multi-thousand dollar PC's to the 400$ xbox360.

I don't have a 360, my 360 plans got squashed when my Hyundai got stolen :( . So I have to wait till late march at least to get mine. As for the ps3 , have fun waiting the mockup they showed at CES was the same one shown at E3. It still had the 3 ethernet ports (which the router function was scrapped shortly after E3) and no cooling vents. And by the time the ps3 comes out, 360 games will finnaly be showing their legs , and the ps3 games will be where the 360 launch titles are now, barely scratching the surface.

Personally I am of the opinion that the ps3 will be crippled by fill rate, and unable to do any serious anti-aliasing at resolutions over maybe 720P. When the same questions where brought up about the ps2 Ken "Krazy fucker" Kutaragi said the grittiness was the playstation "look". I have serious doubts about the ps3 making launch (in japan) any sooner than first quarter 07, and then probably 6-9 months later in the states. Don't doubt for a second that they will have similar hardware shortages as MS has with the 360. That sort of thing is inevitable.

Please don't accuse me of nvidia bashing, I have geforce 6800's in both my current rigs (shoot even the boy's computer has a pci gf2mx). I think the 7800 is a great part, but its a "off the shelf pc component" quite unlike the custom ati chip in the 360.

Do any of you have a thick vertical line at the bottom of the screen while playing Fight Night? Its pretty annoying.

Its a great tv, I have hd reciever and it looks just as good as any other picture on a plasma or hdtv.

Yeah I do. Any reason that it is there?

Glad you are enjoying things, but maybe you are begining to understand a potentially devistating hurdle for the gaming industry. People just aren't seeing eye to eye anymore. The move from the NES to SNES was night and day. 2D generation to 3D was arguably even more dramatic, but while there was plenty of room for improvement between the PS1 generation, and the now fading consoles, people aren't quite seeing the merit of the improved technical prowess of upcoming hardware. Truely, the stuff is phenomenal, but we don't have people uniformly agreeing that the transition to next-gen hardware is a great leap. Surely everyone will admit visuals have improved, but it seems more in the order of a very cleverly programmed game on existing hardware. Yes, beyond the scope of existing hardware. It just seems like the jump in visual quality from current gen to next-gen is along the lines of average current-gen and cutting edge current-gen.

Personally, I am waiting for stylized game art, more than I am night and day realism. HDTV an isn't necessary for this. Just Okami. :)

I'm with the OP. The 360 + CSS on the PC will hold me over for quite some time. When the DX10 cards come out and go through the first rounds of the price drop I'll through together a new, kick ass, water cooled system...

Uhh...you're the OP...?

Why are graphics the only thing anybody ever talks about when raving about the X360...? The only game that I've heard, "Hey, that's a fun game" about is PGR3, and that's pretty rare in comparison to the number of times people say, "Holy shit! PGR3 looks awesome!" I mean, call me crazy...but it doesn't seem like graphics are the absolute determining factor when it comes to how good a game is. Actually, it's pretty close to last...for me, anyway.

Using the 360 at 720p won't allow the TV to lag as were at 1080i it'll lag a little?

Also wondering, would this be a good buy to use with the 360.

Its not a lag issue. 1080i is a higher resolution format than 720p...but interlacing creates artifacts on fast-moving images. So neither format is really 'better' than the other. Stills and video such as documentaries, travelogues, close-up head shots, etc, all look better at 1080i. Sports events, action movies, etc tend to do better at 720p.

Sorry, but aliasing isn't an issue if you have your X360 configured properly. Care to try again?

Also: Need for Speed: Most Wanted isn't in the same league as PGR3. To quote Pulp Fiction, "it isn't even in the same fucking sport". PGR3 is infinitely more detailed in every aspect. The textures, the geometry, the physics...everything. The only thing that can possibly argued is the style, and that's purely subjective.

Because this is new hardware and the first-generation of games is typically lacking in the content department? The last impressive launch that had a wide-variety of content and great graphics came on 9/9/99. Insenuating that this trend was any different with PS2, Xbox or Gamecube fans is pretty asinine. In fact, the trend is even worse in the PC industry; when a new card comes out, we get a dozen benchmark threads and some screenshots of technologically impressive games that were completely lacking in regards to content (Doom 3 much?)

Thats funny, I still haven't seen a PC game that looks better than PGR3 or have some of the technology shown in PD:Z ( I know the game is mediocre )

Hey, that's YOUR opinion, not fact. It is my opinion that this is one of the best selection of launch titles of any console other than the Sega Dreamcast. I own 13 of them, and don't regret spending the money on any of them. Try playing COD2, Condemned, RR6, NFS:MW, and a few other titles on a HDTV and try to say that they didn't optimize them right.

A fighting game has to render to chars and a very small simple back ground. Because there is less, you can pump more polygons into the surroundings and chars. With larger scale FPS's, you won't see as much detail. Would sould render some really simple like a pencil with photo realism.

I'm sure the same sorts of things were said when Tekken Tag Tournament came out.

This is a first-generation title. The visuals seen in FNR3 will be surpassed by games in every genre eventually.

Cyks...you have no clue.

HD does not make the jaggies show.

I have a 100" projector screen...hooked up to a HDTV projector with a native res of 1280x720. Panasonic PTL-500U

I have a 4 GHZ P4, 6800 GT, lada lada lada.

I've hooked them both up the projector - The xbox360 looks better....

Kameo on a 100" screen has ZERO jaggies, and would bring a PC to it's knees with all the background stuff going on.

Fight night three is the best looking graphics I've ever seen. It's like 90% photrealistic.

IF the Xbox360 is setup correctly there is no jaggies Period...if you've seen them the setup is incorrectly configured, or the HDTV is crap.

I'd hope your $800 SLI setup would be nicer then a $400 Xbox360

I hate to say this but the game I've been playing the most on the Xbox 360 has been Geometry War Evolved LOL..but then again I needed a break from NFS:MW, since it kept making me want to do one more race and I was up till 1:30AM playing it..I haven't had PC game do that to me in ages.
