Hi All,

I stayed away from windows SP2 because I had heard of problems with it. But, I wanted to use window's movie maker so I had to install it. Since then, I've noticed some problems.

1) My dvd burner doesn't read data on burned dvds. I tried watching movies I dled and burned but windows media player just stalls and I get the not responding error. I also have trouble burning certain files. I tried reflashing the firmware, but that did nothing. Any suggestions?

2) Windows movie maker sometimes stalls and I have to cancel the application and restart it.

I really don't want to have to reinstall windows as I have allot of stuff I didn't backup and the dvd burning problem I'm having now makes that hard. Any help with this would be much appreciated. Thank you.

It's been a year since SP2 was even remotely considered as having any problems. You've been taking some serious security risks by putting it off up to this point. You haven't given us very much to work on, but it sounds like you have some old burning apps loaded that might not be compatible with SP2.

You can either research my suggestion above, or try slipstreaming SP2 into your existing XP CD, and running a repair install.

Here

You build a disc with SP2 already installed...so when your fresh install is finished, your computer is at SP2 already.

Nero had compatability issues with SP2. Make sure it's fully updated.

WOW.... where and when was that?....and even if it was still true the benefits far outway the problems...

heck its even possible that the reason your system isnt working is because you havent installed sp2 ;)
