ATI Battlefield 2 Problems

I play Battlefield 2 with all of my settings on high and my resolution at 1280 x 1024 @ 85 Hertz refresh rate.

The first problem I am experiencing, when I have my desktop and Battlefield video settings exactly the same (1280 x 1024 @ 85 Hertz), when I ALT + Tab out of Battlefield , the transition is very smooth (the monitor doesn't have to adjust) and try to surf the internet, the browser window scrolls incredibly slow. Why does this happen? When I adjust the desktop or game resolution and set them differently from one another, this problem is gone. Any tips?

Also when I play Battlefield with all settings on high, I have a graphics problem that shows the helicopter textures to have what appear like "zebra" stripes when I view it at certain angles. I have tried multiple catalyst drivers ranging from 5.11 - 6.1. My spces are as follows:

AMD 64 X2 3800
ECS Nforce 4 A939 Mobo
2 gb dual channel PC 4000
ATI Radeon X800 XL 256 MB
CRT 19" monitor (can't remember make / model)

Thanks in advance.

sounds like a overheating problem IMO. Try to have programs like rivaturner running in the background to monitor temps on a scale...not just a number so you can see peak heat times and see if you need a better cooling solution.

There is nothing out there that is as good as stock right now. I suggest getting something like a Antec 180 case or get a fan in there to cool it down. But 1st and foremost you need to install some Artic Silver 5. It took me about 1.5 to 2 weeks to notice a difference.

It probably scrolls slowly because your graphics card is trying to render BF2 in the background, leaving no processing power to render IE.

^^^Don't know about that but I too have BF2 using 2 gigs of ram with 4096 on the pagefile on 2nd HD. I use to have that same problem. IE when you min a webpage and moved it with the mouse it would stutter across the screen. My temps were like 65C on the x1800xt. I had to cool itdown. Just a guess though it could be what the poster above me said...

4096 instead of 2048 on the pagefile made everything smoother even though I have 2 gigs of ram.

-check temps in game and make sure they are below 60C as anything above that does cause problems
-consider increasing your

In my experience alt tabbing out of games is always dicey and not recommended especially with system hogs like BF2
