I wonder what the motivation is for folks who play BF2. Sometimes I play for badges/medals, sometimes I play for stats, sometimes I play to win the round and sometimes I play "emotionally" (i.e.: kill one guy all the time or pick on one squad of guys).

How about you? :D

I play to win. I get pissed when my team sucks ass. I check stats sometimes but the here and now is really all that matters.

So what if you killed this many people with this method if I just kicked the shit out of you today.

i have a sick appetite for mayhem and destruction that can only be satiated by blowing shit up. And i think the game is a lot of fun.

I like playing because all my friends play it, but for the most part it's to prove to them, once again, that I'm better then they will ever be. Once that Gold Star with my name pops up and I start doing my happy dance they know who's king of the battlefield.

In short, so I can be a jerk. :D

I only play when my friends get on Teamspeak and we all play together, then its FUN as hell. By myself its no fun at all.

Even with the issues, I still enjoy it.

Loaded up last night for the first time in ages, so horrible :(

I stick on explosive packs to people choppers who I don't like or having a bad day and blow them up halfway across the level.

/banned at nearly half the servers.

Considering there are thousands upon thousands of servers I guess you get around. What's your BF2 screen name?

A better tactic is to stick it on the gunners viewport, so he can't see a thing. lol Of course with the next patch this won't be as effective, so do it while you can. ;)

I play BF2 in 21CW which is'nt normal. I don't pub in BF2. Just play tournament style.

That's EXACTLY the way it was meant to be played. Wish I could make the commitment to play 21CW... :(

Wish mine would play for more than 10 minutes a time.. :(

You forgot the "because it's the best thing you can do and ever have been able to do on a PC" criteria, tbh.

Sorry. Majority rules in this poll.

I used to play Total War and just recently joined 21 CW (Go 28ID).

I play for the competition. I realy enjoy being in a well orginized 30 man army, blowing stuff up, shooting people and laying traps.

All of the above, bro... It really depends on a day.. there's a day I want a certain badge, a day that I just want to waste people, if somebody piss me off I'm on a hunt baby. This game despite all of the negatives (bugs) is just great and addictive.

THANKS, I OWE YOU ONE!!!

Mostly because it's immensely fun...I try not to focus on stats too much but it's great pulling in gold medals on occassion. But, then again, there's nothing better than being on a good, coordinated team and rolling over unsuspecting opposition :)

I really play just for fun, I try to help my team as much as possible when I play(I hate when people dont work as a good team/squad) my k/d sucks but i dont care, I almost always have some of the best teamwork scores on my team, I like to play medic and am pretty good at it, the last few days Ive been switching up to different classes and just made staff sargeant rank lastnight. yeah and I like messing around with the different unlocks.

While i suck at it, i have a strange attraction to sniping. I guess there's something about being hidden in the bushes waiting for an unsuspecting guy on foot to kill. I love flying the heli as well but i hardly ever get it so i usually don't even try.

I like standing on the helicopters and jets as they take off, never gets old.

Yea I see your in Bandar, I'm in IIAF. :)

See you online. :)

Is this game still uber frustrating? That is the reason why I quit playing it. Sorry to crap on the thread but the server browser alone made it worth wile to turn the disks into coasters. Then again CS:S is being a big piece of crap right now too.

Why must games suck at certain things.

I can't imagine someone playing it as some sort of "chore."
It's fun and I enjoy getting medals along the way.

To have a great time teaming with others while shooting them in the arse once in a while for giggles. ;)

eh, i used to play before the major patch came in changing ALL the ranking system making it easier for noobs to get their unlocks. what a waste of my time i swear. i played since the day it came out until october or september i forget, and i mainly wanted to play online with my friends and when one of my friends got the game after the major ranking patch was released and he had like 3000 points in a week and it took me months to get that high, i officially said fuck it.

don't get me wrong, i waited forever for this game. since i played bfv, i couldn't wait for the game to come out. i had it reserved and everything. i remember checking to see all the new trailers at EA, man, memories. sad that i don't play it anymore, it changed too much for me since release.

If anybody plays games for anything but fun, then there's something wrong with them.

Then whats wrong with playing for fame and fortune? Hehehe...

But yeah, I play BF2 because simply theres no other FPS game that simulates a modern battle. Yes, its kinda stupid when you see a squad of medics and ghillie suited snipers running around in a city. But in essence, 64 players in an FPS is fun. It would be cooler if that number got up to 128, with even bigger maps!

I was actually required to play Battlefield 2 for my job - and I actually thought I wasn't going to like it.

In fact, I was quite prepared to loathe it. Sure, they call it the MEC, but it's pretty clear that this capitalises more than a little bit on the current conflict in the Middle East. And I thought it was pretty tasteless for those reasons. Regardless of your politics, it's a little close to the bone when REAL Americans and Iraqis are dying. You've got some sort of distance with Battlefield Vietnam and Battlefield 1942...

Besides, it's a First Person Shooter, and those games only appeal to ramboed-up kids who spend 40 hours a day playing, name themselves cursewords because it's "kewl" and talk trash because before you rarely develop taste before your voice changes....

And then I played it.

Oh my.

It was just absolutely incredible - the gameplay... even with bots it's just a really fun game. The online community is generally nice, and the game really does reward teamwork. So many options... and vehicles... everything I liked about Halo, which was the only game I played on my old Mac "rig."

Needless to say, once I got my computer, BF2 was one of the games I got - it was hard to justify the $50... especially since in my job I'm actually required to play it for free, but in the end, I justified it by saying that this way, I can play it whenever I need to let off steam from frustrations at work* (not a good idea to practice cathartic fragging when your boss is right next to you,) and also: It's a business expense. Really. The more I learn how NOT to die playing Battlefield, the more accurate my benchmarks are because the character isn't staring at the sky for 15 seconds in a 180 second benchmark.

I see some room for improvement. I'd like there to be an optional "Briefing" and "Debriefing" period where teammates can get thier strategy together... because unless you're using voice chat, typing is death and the Commo Rose just simply doesn't convey enough info.

And BF2 is the game most likely to make us go: "Hmm, was that a game bug or a stability problem? Really wish I knew for sure." More patches!

But other than that - AMAZING game that won me over.

Don't know whether to get Special Forces or to wait for Euro Force...

*rare, but they do happen.
